DREWSDIME
I am looking to get some drop spindles for my 85 720, I heard there is spacer needed to use hard body drop spindles on 720 but all the pics I see show no spacer? Quote Link to comment
dscottdatsun
No spacers are needed. Just r&r brakes and hubs, unbolt the stock spindle and replace it with your drop spindle. Quote Link to comment
wayno
Maybe they were talking about a spacer between the rim and hub. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Pretty sure, yes, there are thick washers for spacing the 720 caliper when using 720 hubs/rotors. Quote Link to comment
wayno
The issue that some people might talk about is that when the hub spindle is moved higher, it brings the lower arm(LCA)/balljoint closer to the inside of the rim, 720s came with 14 inch rims, without a spacer between the hub and rim to move it out, it is likely you will not be able to use your 14 inch rims anymore, and you will have to buy/use 15 inch rims minimum. The calipers/rotors should be a bolt on in there stock alignment, just raised to the new position, after all, you are buying a drop spindle, if everything wasn't re-positioned properly, no one would buy them. thisismatt
I'm not saying I've installed them, but my belltec spindles did come with washer spacers for mounting 720 calipers Quote Link to comment
nis720
If you switch over to Hardbody rotors you won't need to use the caliper bracket spacers. Rotor offset is the only difference between the HB and 720 front brakes, brackets and calipers are the same. I'll get pics of the spacers when I get home. I think the thicknes is 1/4". irishevox
on an 80 720 what spindles would work ? Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
But what about the 86 720 I thought they had the same front brakes as the hard body Quote Link to comment
