Tkit213
Hey guys, new to the forum. Just wanted to introduce myself, found this forum while looking for a datsun pickup/ 510 wagon. I am going out to riverside today to buy a 620 pickup truck daily driver w 4spd and will be on here frequently to read up on others projects/ easy mods (dont want it to be a project since i have another one in the works). Im normally a toyota guy, but ive always had a soft spot for datsuns (510/ 240z/ now trucks :-p). I have a 1972 toyota celica with a 2.4l tacoma motor and turbo installed, and its waiting for engine wiring and tuning. Ive had 3 other early 70s celicas before this one and love them. Anyways, if anyones in san diego and can give me the scoop on local parts places or meets, thatd be awesome. Ted picture of my celica: pictures of car can be seen here: http://www.facebook....18221399&type=3 preview pics: Ted Quote Link to comment

HRH
Normally I hate Toyotas on principle, but the early Celicas are totally badass. ;) Welcome to Ratsun. Quote Link to comment
Tkit213
ah, thats cool. BC. i had some guests on a cruise from there i think recently, good people. and HRH- yeah, i had a 73 celica with a 18rg motor as my first car i bought with my own money because my brother told me to get it. I didnt like it at first but after researching more as i was driving it i started to love it even more.. and my celica love was cemented. haha. Quote Link to comment
Tkit213
SO BUMMED. i was totally banking on grabbing this 620 but, cutting to the chase- after driving 2 hours, waiting 4 hours, the motor locks up WHILE my buddy and i are sitting there waiting for them to try to start the car. said it was a daily. havent driven it since monday until this morn to move it.. and the starter messed up. after bump starting a couple times and some fiddling we discover the motor locks up somehow. baffled how it happened right in front of our eyes. dont know how. so if anyones looking for a pretty nice rolling chassis with a seized motor, lmk ill give you the guys number. :-/ i really wanted that thing to but we waited bc it had trouble starting and could only bump start it (a few times.. last two times it didnt bump start bc it locked up). shame. but at least it did it before i bought it and wasnt driving to san diego two hours away to have it mess up on me. my search for a 75 n older daily driver datsun truck/ wagon continues... Tkit213
guy called me. said they got it running. i asked how, it was dead... and he said new starter and oil. :-/ anyways, still looking. now im debating on a board members 69 w j13 or a local with a 73 620 needs motor, trans, and seat installed. doesnt come with those parts. baldredhead
with all the stuff you've done to the celica, dropping an eingne* in an otherwise** good 620 would be a piece of cake. *used/useable datto engines aren't that hard to find **a dubious assumption given the thing was advertised as a daily, and clearly wasn't. Tkit213
Lol thx guys. And sad to say but ill cut to the end- I paid friend that's got a shop to swap my motor and do the work. I have no space to do that stuff or time. So ya. Basically its bought not built by me. Lol. Quote Link to comment

Twodoordime
Hey i know this car. How is roger doing on this thing? I know gabe knocked out that mani fairly quickly. Anyway look forward to seeing the turbo 2rzfe in action! 2rzfe's are bad little motors man i bought one for one of my 510's but never used it. Ended up selling it. That motor can do quite a bit of power. Im sure you know this considering you're using one LOL Quote Link to comment
Tkit213
haha you know the car? nice. rogers done with it as far as i know, unless he forgot to do something and i didnt catch it. i gotta take it to dana so he can knock out a couple things. my harness is 2 wires short of being complete, so itll be done in no time.. then comes the dyno tuning :-) great motors, i have been looking for a spare to build up but havent found one.
