metalmonkey47
Can't say I really have any advice to give here, but someone will come along shortly who does. Good luck man! I know how it is to hit a bug half way through a swap. Quote Link to comment
Pumpkn210
Make sure the trannys are the same length and have the correct yoke put on your driveshaft... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Unbolt the flanged spline from the back of the 521 4 speed and pull it out. Put a 40mm engine frost plug (with sealer or it will drip oil) over the hole where the nut was and that should do it. It will now fit the 710 4 speed tailshaft and the rest of the 521 driveshaft should bolt back to it. How easy is that??? . 2 Quote Link to comment

Pumpkn210
+1 Mike! I thought it was different splines. Learn something new every day! That's a great trick ;-) Quote Link to comment
Hardwyre
There won't be any issue with running the tranny without that retaining bolt? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
None. The 521 has a second driveshaft behind the carrier bearing with a slip joint. Because of this they (for whatever reason) bolted the front spline into the transmission output spline. I think the 240z had the bolt in spline also or maybe the Roadster because the diff was bolted to the frame and there was no driveshaft movement to worry about. All other trucks use the sliding spline. bonvo you have to come to Canby! Quote Link to comment
