slayer
 Has any one put an electric pump on a 620? I think mine died today I unhooked the line from the top of the pump (the outlet I hope) and used starter to start it and no gas came out. Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
i would jsut replace the one thats there. they run about $35-40 and are 2 bolts to undo. easier to do that than wire in an electric one, rig the FPR, and a cutoff switch. taht is unless you are planning on running EFI. 1 Quote Link to comment
slayer
no just cheaper :) lol my parts store said $51 for replacement....$40 for electric... ok do you happen to know if the top of the pump is the inlet or outlet? looks like outlet but i am not sure. Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
ummmmm, outlet, lol. it goes straight to the carb.....imma put an electric on mine soon and i already have the fpr, sooooooo Quote Link to comment
J.C_620
why do you need a fpr? i run a crappy el cheapo electric fuel pump that goes out every 6 months or so with a weber knockoff 34/34 and use the the factory fuel return line without a fpr and have had no problems except the cheap pumps going bad Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
my truck runs for a sec or two after shut off, i am hoping to stop that. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
why do you need a fpr? i run a crappy el cheapo electric fuel pump that goes out every 6 months or so Because you don't want the full amperage draw the pump needs (check your pump to see what this is probably between 20 and 30 amps at startup) running through a 5 amp switch. ;) That el cheapo pump doesn't sound so cheap if your replacing it every 6 months.... Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
That's not a symptom of the fuel pump or pressure, it's a symptom of not having a anti-dieseling solenoid on the carb like the stock Hitachi had. They make Webers with that solenoid for that purpose- that's the setup I have on my '76. No run-on at all. Quote Link to comment
J.C_620
that makes sense maybe thats why the pump stops pumping its getting too much juice at all times i have it run from a 20 amp relay that is turned on by the oil presure switch the relay is wired from the fuse block with a 10 amp fuse Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
i have a webber carb on mine, not to surew which on though, how do i identify it? yeah, it diesels and i hate it, how do i stop that? and one other thing, can i take those butterflies out of it? i think there for the auto choke. but it never gets cold here, soooooooo.......... datzenmike
 Has any one put an electric pump on a 620? All '75? and up 620s with air con. have them. no just cheaper :) lol my parts store said $51 for replacement....$40 for electric... For $11 saved you have to mount the electric near the tank and plumb the hoses, gear clamps, and wire it up including a ground. You could connect to the ignition RUN position but very unsafe if there is an accident and fire. Pump will keep pumping gas with ignition ON... and you unconscious. Not good. Don't be so cheap!! Easier to replace old pump, faster, safer. Don't forget the plastic spacer between it and the block and don't over tighten the pump and crack the spacer or you'll have an oil leak. 1 Quote Link to comment
djlotus
You can get pumps pretty cheap off of ebay. Here's an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Gas-Fuel-Pump-Nissan-Datsun-610-620-Pickup-Truck-710_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33555QQihZ020QQitemZ300217475218QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
so whats the best thing i can do to solve my dieseling problem? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Let the clutch up until just dragging and turn key off, if auto leave in drive... engine stalls. Bit of practice and no one will know. Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
but i would really rather get it fixed so that i dont have to do that, but if theres no real issue with just killing it then i'll just do that for now...... Quote Link to comment

datsunon40s
so whats the best thing i can do to solve my dieseling problem? retard the timing a degree or so and run premium gas works every time:D:D Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
ok, i know search, but how hard is it to set the timing? and imma wait till i get a fuel cell to run 93, my tank is rusted :( Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Rusting isn't a prob. Just change the filter 2-3 times a year. Cut the old one open and examine it. This will tell you how often to change it. For a perminant fix for dieseling get a carb with an idle cut solinoide. The red wire goes to the solinoid, blue wire to electric choke. slayer
does any one have a photo of the stock Hitachi Carburetor that show the idle cut solenoid? Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
shouldn't my webber have it? Quote Link to comment

joelyjoeljumpin
My 77 came with an electric stock it was A/C equipped originally just replaced my pump for the second time in two years it was about $50.00 for a universal and not that hard to run the fuel lines . I love how my tank has a drain . Try replacing a electric fuel pump on a 95 Blazer by yourself with an in tank pump . Dropping the tank with a half tank of gas isn't really fun . The Datsun is like a freakin cakewalk in comparison . Quote Link to comment
