L17

So I was cleaning out the garage today...

I knew they were there, just haven't given them much thought.

Someone had an L18 in a box that I bought awhile ago.

Disassembled.

I also have a spare L16 short block.

The L18, as a whole, are pretty beat.

But, the rods, pistons, and crank appear to be in great shape.

I've read a few things about people doing this-but no results.

So who knows what?

Being a starving student, this appeals me for the time being.

Who can do the compression specs also?

Quite a few combos to be made.

Keep in mind, I have just the stock 210 head, and an A87 peanut head.

L16 block, L18 crank, rods, pistons?

L16 block, crank, rods, L18 pistons?

I can even source some L20B pistons easily if compression of these combos are too high?

Opinions? Thoughts? Numbers?

Am I missing a combo, or something else?

No mention of L17 in there.

I've read that so many times.

I ask these questions cuz I have the parts.

Starving student. With a discount at the machine shop.

um, you said L16 block, L18 crank rods pistons... which equals L18.

Note you will have to bore a L16 to accept L18 or L20 pistons

Touche...

But L16 block, rods, crank and L18 pistons are indeed 1692cc.

I didn't know how else to label the thread.

Like I said...I've seen people say they were gonna do it, but they never said anything afterwards.

That just raises the CR? as the only difference is that the L24 pistons are that they are flat top.

Its a tested proven "ole" school build.done several.

They pull strong for itty bitty 16

Not right off hand.

Comp numbers for this?

I'm sure ebay will have some...

And will also save on the machine work.

going back say 15 years since the last one I built, if I remember correctly was 9.5 maybe 10 to.

How is this any different than a stock L18?

Not sure.

I just know the block i have has a big chip in it.

Got to do something.

Maybe it's L16 block and guts with L18 pistons that makes a L17.

I'm spacey today.

Worked on the Maxima during hottest part of the day.

Who's got two thumbs and is tired as hell?

This guy.
