Dirttrack510
Yeah. It's called an L18. Only if you use the L18 crank and rods... I'm planning to use a L16 crank and rods, with the L18 pistons like you mentioned at the start of the thread. I wanna build the "L17" :P Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Well, we bore the A15 out 3mm routinely. Some even go 4mm if naturally apirated. But the A15 is one tough cookie. Why couldn't you do the same for an L16 block? Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
I don't know. I was just asking, because i didn't wanna order a $500 set of forged pistons I couldn't use. :( I'm wanting to do this on my race engine. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Good point, there will be some limit to reliability. With the A15 that is +3 overbore. If you go +4 and hit high power levels it has some problems, so sonic checking is advised at that 4mm overbore. What is that limit for the L16 block? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I think I read over on OZDAT that the L16 block only like up to a 85mm bore. The L18 could go up to 89mm, but 87 is safer, and it would be wise to sonic test it before hand. Quote Link to comment
Dirttrack510
It's not that much of an improvement over 1.6 liter to go to 1.7 liter, maybe I'll just order something like .040 overbore L16 pistons, so I don't have to worry about it. Sorry by the way about posting my own questions on your thread. I didn't mean to thread jack ya. ;) Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
100cc on an L16 is worth more HP than a 1.0 increase in compression. Isn't that worth it? Quote Link to comment
