d510addict
My truck sputters/pops/backfires non stop while slowing down with compression. It is rather annoying and my question is what could this be a sign of? Quote Link to comment
lil89ram50
what do you mean with compression? down shifting? yea, it will do that, nothing you can do about it.... Quote Link to comment
datsunz
That's normal. you must have an exhaust leak near the head. Otherwise the muffler would cover it. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
If you have a muffler with very little/no backpressure, this is normal. You can fit a regular muffler on it to get rid of the 'popping'. Or reconnect the throttle opener that Nissan fitted. Or it could be too rich and a little too much timing. But a small amount of popping occurs even if tuned correctly. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
When I got my wagon running, the carb I put on was leaned too far out. I richened it up and this problem decreased, but it didn't go away. After that, I advanced the timing to where it should have been. Now it hardly does it at all. So, to sum it up, get the right air/fuel mixture, and check your timing. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Check vacuum advance for leaks. Check BCDD if equipped. hose may be off. Quote Link to comment
d510addict
BCDD? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
BCDD is only on the later stock Hitachi carbs. If you have a Weber DGV time the vehicle again. maybe ck the jetting. Quote Link to comment
d510addict
Right now it has a 2300 series non progressive holley. Cleaning up a 5200 holley for the l20b when it goes in. Quote Link to comment
