RadioRedline
Question for Y'all! Got me a 510 (1970 4 door) Last Night. The PO lost keys. So He had taken the tumbler out of the steering column. Then he was using a small key or screwdriver to start it. It works, Did it a couple times and I got it home. I am wondering would I be able to buy from another 510 the 2 door cylinders and ignition piece with its keys, and remove and replace mine? Would this work? Thanks for your help. ggzilla
Or just get the key code off the passenger side lock, and have a locksmith cut you a new key. Cost about $30, and it'll work like new, better than used locks. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
He said the PO had taken out the tumbler, not that he's missing it. Although usually when they take it out it goes missing... Quote Link to comment

yellowdatsun
If you're missing the tumbler, you can find another 510 one and have it re-keyed to match the door locks. Also, be aware that the early 510's had single sided ignition keys, and the later ones had double sided keys, all within 68-73. So be sure you're getting the right one for the car. Or just do like many of us and have one key for the door, and a separate one for the ignition. If you want, changing the pins inside the tumbler is easy to do yourself, but you need a few extra sets to play with to make one good one. Quote Link to comment

RadioRedline
My Goal was to save this car from the PO and OTher Destruction. I want to sell it to a person who will take proper care of it. Radio Quote Link to comment
