Stupid_fast
Hello, my car did not come with any mounting hardware or anything for the radiator, I only got a new one for an L engine and hoses. What type of mounting hardware should I use to secure it? Could I get a pic of someones rad mounts? Thanks. Quote Link to comment

510kevin
if its an l motor radiator, it should have holes on the sides to bolt it to the core support Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Then, is it not a radiator for your 510? I think so. Quote Link to comment
Stupid_fast
Then, is it not a radiator for your 510? I think so. No, its not an original rad. The previous owner gave me this with the car. He also gave me the hoses for it. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I never said original. Nor OE replacement. I said not for your car. That may fit, but it's not for your car. Time to get fabbin some brackets. That thing looks huge. Quote Link to comment

No idea what its for, I only know it fits in the 510 engine bay. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
I found something that referenced the ARS-828 for a 1988-84 Pontiac Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
the lower outlet on a 510rad usually comes out at a angle to clear the alternator . this is a big proplem. Look into this first otherwise cause its FREE doesnt mean you HAVE to use it and spend more than you actually ned to to make this work when a FREE 510 rad could be had down the street under a tree!!!!!!!! flyerdan
Side tank radiators like that are usually mounted by free floating between full length rubber beds at the bottom and top, since there is no way to actually bolt one in. The bottom bed would be stamped into the core support and the top bed would be removable for installation. They also need the full length support since there is no framework around the cores; they are somewhat fragile. Best bet would be to try and find a top and bottom tank style L series radiator and flog that one on craigslist, since it's new in the box. Quote Link to comment
Stupid_fast
Hmm, got maor pics.(Wow, I just automatically typo'd that as Oics...) Is there any advantage to run this type of rad? I do want my car to run very cool, I want to do some racing. Its a really great fit. The hose bumps the alt, but it would work. What are these for? There are two of em. Advice? If theres no advantage to running this then I'm just gonna find a good rad for a 510. edit- after doing some more research, it looks like this is in fact a Fiero radiator? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Look how far away the radiator inlet is away from the engine outlet. Really? You think it fits good? The hose bumps the alt, but it would work. Red flag. Coolant is hot. And that hose rubbing your alternator will do 2 things. Heat up your alternator, causing possible premature failure. It will rub a hole into your lower hose. Leaky-leaky. What are these for? There are two of em. Those are for the automatic transmission cooler. Which you do not need. Advice? If theres no advantage to running this then I'm just gonna find a good rad for a 510. For ease of install, I'd go find an L series radiator. Quote Link to comment
Stupid_fast
Isnt there a write-up somewhere on how to mount a fiero rad? FYI, Hose needs trimming, but it fits fine. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Still be very careful of that lower inlet rubbing the alt. I've seen holes get rubbed into the hose quickly. Like days. But hey. Have fun with that. Quote Link to comment
Stupid_fast
Went to junk yard, ripped this out of a Pontiac Fiero. $5 It has the rubber mounts for the top of the rad. after a bit of cutting/bending, I test fit it with the hood on, seems good since I'm going to be running pins anyway. I have an idea of what to do for the hoses, and bolting it in. I will post again when its all hooked up! Quote Link to comment
