nevada
I have never used this weight of oil before. i was looking at reviews online and it seems that using 10w40 can cause sludge build up in an engine. is this true? if so why make it? thanks! Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
what ??? ,,, what are you planning to use it in ? vehicle , year and make ? Heat , conditions of engine , etc .... I know not changing the oil periodically will sure increase it ! Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
not true. Nissan recommended it my 1972 owner's manual. They still recommend it in the new cars... Quote Link to comment
nevada
ok not sure what the diagrams are about lol. i was just doing some research on engine oil just in general not for any specific vehicle. i came across a few posts where it was stated that the 10w40 had issues with creating sludge so i was curious if this was the case. Laecaon
My Mercedes recommended anywhere from 5w-25 to 20w-50. It depends what engine it is, what the climate is outside, and the temperature. Of course maybe certain brands are bad... I like to run only Castrol. Castrol GTX in the Datsun, Castrol syntec in my Jetta. Quote Link to comment

Quotes by armchair dicks that probably ran the cheapest WallMart non detergent 0.79cents a liter crap in their cars. And then didn't change it regularly enough and now have an opinion about it. metalmonkey47
Sounds like the classic case of "moron doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about." It's spreading like a wildfire in this economy. Everyone thinks they can be a mechanic with a box o' tools. Quote Link to comment
