sdsurf
I keep blowing my exhaust flange gasket. STock L-16 manifold into stock exhaust. I thought about doubling it up with 2. Any thoughts? Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Auto parts stores sell a silicate based "muffler sealant" in a tube. It is high temperature resistant. Put a circle around the 2 exhaust holes in the gasket, on both sides, and install. Hopefully this willfill in any warping of the flanges and seal the joint. I used this method to fabricate an exhaust gasket for my RL411 out of 2 510 gaskets. It's been holding for 12 years. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
I used to run 2 gaskets on my Mazda truck because 1 of the flanges was slightly warped. Worked fine :D Maybe do 2 & use the sealant to be sure. Quote Link to comment
I'm BLUE
^^^ I was just about to say you should check for warpage on the exhaust manifold surface , as well as cylinder head surface :D Quote Link to comment
Braden
i doubt the manifold side would be warped enough to make it leak but the flange side would be, i made a flange out of 1/4 inch plate and its been working great! just use the gasket as a template ! Quote Link to comment
motavated
It could be that the flange could be hitting the trans. Causing a bad seal. Causing it to malfunction down to road.... Quote Link to comment
