sam31183
Hey, I brought this thing to canby this year...anyways, I thought there might be some interest over here in me building a build thread on it....its kind of an odd beast as it is right between all of those super sweet datsuns you guys are running and those uber slammed drift s13s those kids be driving now a days. Anyways, I bought the car for 1k from another member from club-s12.org. He had bought the car from another member of that forum when he got it. He drove it from spokane to wenatchee and the proceeded to blow up the ca20e so he could put a ka24de into it. A lot of the times when I talk to datsun heads about the ca20e they think it is prolly this awesome engine...but its pure 80s nissan crap....4 cylinder 8 plugs 2 coils....yuck! Anyways...I digress. This is what the car looked like when I picked her up from wenatchee like 10 months ago. the kade pretty rough...but i saw that it had potential. On the way home however as I was crossing the I90 bridge in a monsoon the windshield wipers died on me...the plastic cup that holds the two rods had fell off...my brothers fiancee managed to get a hair tie on the two rods and that held them together for like 3 months...they fell off one night and i got a new plastic cup thing from a nissan dealer and that fixed er all up. Oh, and i forgot to mention when I picked the car up the only 2 working gauges was the fuel gauge and the voltage gauge....those are all working now. anyways, i started slowly building her up...i picked up some SE side skirts/lip and some awesome jdm clear corners... I then picked these bad boys up from a local 510 owner who had them on his 510 before he got some awesome gold works. for those not in the know these are impul hoshinos....15x7. These wheels where made by impul in the 80s and they ran them on the silhouette s110/s12 race cars...i own a piece of s12 race history...and i daily drive on em! Shortly after that I did some suspension work...canuck motorsports lowering springs for the s12 and some kyb agx shocks, sw20 mr2 in the front, and foxbody mustang in the back. oh wait...i forgot to mention....before i lowered the car i did 3 coats of TR3 polish and like 4 or 5 coats of wax....here is a pic of the car from nwn golden gardens meet with cut front springs all waxeeed up. I havent added much to it since i did the suspension...i bought this knock off nardi wheel and i basically drive the piss of of her! oh...you might notice the shift boot...the previous owner had to cut the tunnel out some for the longer s13 transmission...so there was just a rubber boot thing and a gaping hole there so i made that up to make it not look quite so bad... action shot time? Yah, action shot time!!! Last thing I have done to the car was I added experimental engineerings tc rod bushing kit yesterday to the car...it seems to handle some better.:D I hope you guys have enjoyed something a bit different! CharlieBucket
You do some good work, useally i don't like the notches much, but yours looks great. I love S12's i acaully searched all over for one after i sold my last S13, then i found a Datsun...... Quote Link to comment
sam31183
in stock form notches look super bleh! I used to hate them...thats why my first s12 is a hatch...and a super run longing project i will most likely never finish...it has a ca18det in it...but i havent finished the swap.....and then i bought my kade notch...and, well, i love it because it is so simple/reliable/fun. sam31183
its a blast to drive...i also enjoy people asking me wtf my wheels are...most s12 owners get the question as to wtf it is they are driving...lol. Quote Link to comment
sam31183
photodumpbump!!! this shot makes the car look all 4x4ish... Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
Looks sick with those wheels. With the first pic I thought this car/thread was gonna suck,............ but with the body kit, those wheels, and the polish, it looks awesome! Quote Link to comment
TE72_Sunny
For some reason I never liked these cars, but with the right wheels and stance they're growing on me. Good Job! However, I would drop it another inch or two, just my opinion :P Quote Link to comment
sam31183
I can barely fit a jack under the front of the car right now the way it sits without having to put anything special under the tires...the pics infront of the old train station kind of make the car look high because the pavement is at an angle...i am happy with the height it is at besides how the car sometimes looks 4 x 4ish...it handles awesomely though. Maybe one day I will convert the front to s13 and run coilovers and slam the front... Quote Link to comment
WAGON JON
Those wheels make your car! :D Quote Link to comment
sam31183
new exhaust.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX-dRdpBIDE i havent posted in awhile...but that doesnt mean i havent been working on the car and driving the crap out of it! Oh, also....the sound in the video is my rattling timing chain...i am going to be replacing the top chain/tensioner and removing the other top guide that is unnecessary....i removed the top top one already...oh, and here are some pics of the exhaust. /img]"] Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
Sooooo.... when are you gonna lower it? ;) Quote Link to comment
sam31183
lol...everyone thinks its too high....its much lower than it was when i got it and i can still work on it so i am happy with it...its functional... Quote Link to comment
PurePontiacKid
wheel gap is like VAJAYJAY the moar fingers you can get in, the worse it is. also. why did you get that muffler. it looks stupid. no offense, but that's what I see on like riced out cars all the time :/ please change it out. Quote Link to comment
The Dat-side
I don't think needs to be lower. But those wheels deserve to be on a slammed car. So lower it or give 'em to me and I'll slam my car. :) Quote Link to comment
sam31183
this is how it started.... shit ton of rear camber... ok, so the set up is ground control 280zx coilovers with t3 s13 caster camber plates with larger toyota shock sleeves, and t3 rcas. The back is a adjustable spring/perch from daymotorsports.com with 550lbs sss blue coil springs. I now scrape on god damned everything....I hope everyone is happy...I know I am lol. I wanted to go 400lbs in the front and 400 in the back, but the lowest rate in the sss coils at the time was 550 and it actually doesnt feel that bad at all....I still daily the car...i just scrape on everything.
