Cleaning parts to my motor and was scraping crud off  well there was a pop and the next thing I know there was a shard of metal punched thru my lens and nicked my right eyelid! Well I got lucky and it is only a nick  What it was I am not sure, rough sliver of malformed casting or something. But I am real happy I was wearing them!!

WOW! It actually pierced your safety glasses? I have had lots of welds and hot shards scratch & melt mine, but never cut through and scratch my eye! Glad your ok and I sure as sh!t will remember to wear mine!

Safety glasses work, but they aren't 100%. I started using glasses and a full face shield because i've had embedded splinters from ricocheting debris. You know its bad when the eye doc remembers you and you've only been a patient for a few months. Three visits within three months. Each time they had to remove rusty splinters and now i got an interesting scar just outside the cornea on my right eye. Count my blessings, i'm still 20/20.
