skunk
Always loved small trucks, i got a 81 toyota but cam across a 73 Datsun 620 and fell in love, drove 800 miles to pick it up only payed 400. it starts every time, carb could use some work but nothing big. There was rust in the bed (duh) some rust on the floors of the cab. Planing on doing a engine swap, still unsure if im going l20b or KA, or something eles even, just know i want more power. heres some pics, wow the dates are way wrong iv got a hole list of stuff id like to do to it. got a new windshield in my yard now. going to get new tires and wheels soon. i got carpets in and painted the white headliner black. DatDoug
Welcome my 620 friend! That is one sweet lil Bulletside:D Looks to be in very good shape. As for the rust........That dont look bad at all. For the engine swap an L20 will be the easier of the 2 options. A KA will bring you more power but will be ALOT more work. Definitely looking forward to seing more pics of this gem. Quote Link to comment

Farmer Joe
is there a 5 speed i can hook up the the l20b that would fit easy in the 620 yes there are! there 2 5 speeds that i know will bolt in. if you were to get a 5 speed from a late model 620, that would bolt right in. also, if you can find an 80 720 with the l20b, they came with a 5 speed that will bolt in too. now im pretty sure those arent the only transmissions that will bolt in. im sure someone else with chime in here soon with some good info. izzo
'77-'79 620 or '77-'83 280z and zx or '79'84 Maxima 5spd should all work may have to do something to the drive line not sure, i dont know trans length Quote Link to comment
DatDoug
is there a 5 speed i can hook up the the l20b that would fit easy in the 620 The 72-74 620 has the short shaft tranny. So you can get a dogleg 5 speed and bolt it in. If you get a later model truck 5 speed or Zcar 5 speed they are long shaft trannys and you will also need the short front driveline piece from the truck as well as the crossmember. There are a couple of write-ups on the forum about it with more info. SEARCH is your friend:D Quote Link to comment

nukeday
You're not driving it yet? I was sure I saw this truck in Springtucky over the weekend... Tires look pretty good in your photos, what are your plans? Quote Link to comment
mike
Nice 620, looks like it was worth the trip for sure. A little warning though, something Ive noticed with that type of sound deadener is that it is a moisture magnet... Every 620 Ive seen with that in it has rusty dloors... Make sure that you dont have any leaks or at least check it periodically... Those floors look NICE wouldnt want them to rust out. Quote Link to comment
skunk
i have no idea what im going to do about wheels, yeah they look good in pic i dont know how all the rust on them didnt show up on pics but they got a lot of rust where they meet up with the tire and wont hold air long. thanks for the tipe on the pading, the carpets i got in there now are only going to be in there for a couple years, when i get all the custom body work done id like to strip it down the the frame and paint everything. Jassifrass
We went to the junkyard today, my first time, and we found some good stuff. We got the windsheild wiper piece we needed and it's metal instead of that ceramic piece that broke. Kelly (skunktruckin) found a really funny air horn in a 521. Very loud. Kelly's got the road rage like no other so it's really fitting for him. He say's it'll be his coping mechanism. My find was a steering wheel with hub. It's exactly what he was looking for and it's got the datsun horn button. Kelly also found a 77 grill just laying around. It had a crack in it but was easy to patch. We also found the brake fluid caps we needed. We got a little to into our search and left some things behind. The hood stand arm and some sun visors.... We didnt find any badges for the blue 620 :( Here's some pics, We also saw a 521 out there that had an interesting dash, not sure if it's already on here or not but yea. the junkyard trucks Quote Link to comment
skunk
to bad we didnt find a rearview mirror and forgot the sunvisors:mad: but at lest i got that grill and wheel:D going to sand and paint the grill tomorrow Edited November 1, 2009 by skunktruckin Quote Link to comment
nukeday
Don't recognize either truck you took pics of. Which yard did you guys hit up? Jas-ifras, what did you think of 'junking'? Really glad you found the wiper linkage! That steering wheel is a huge improvement :) Good onya' for the MC caps. Make sure to post pics of the wheels as you get them ready to mount. I just realized you posted that you have a replacement windshield. Look over your windshield gasket and if it's not torn or disintegrating, I can probably help you install the new windshield with the old gasket. It's a two person job for sure. Both of your trucks are so solid and clean, glad to see you are excited about getting 'em on the road... Edited November 1, 2009 by nukeday windshield Quote Link to comment
skunk
the 521 was at the JC A&A auto wrecking yard, it wasnt with the other datsuns it was on the other side of the VW buses. the 620 with the red stripe was at the pick a part down the road in JC. the windshield i have in my back yard has a rock chip in it, im hoping i can get it fixed if not ill just buy another windshield. and by the way we just sold that dodge, so we have the cash to get the yellow datsun fixed. we will order thos parts asap :D Edited November 1, 2009 by skunktruckin Quote Link to comment
