Cuts metal like mad
is this problem anywhere in the rpm range? low rpms? high rpms? please be more specific. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
i think kiznook is running a 190 main Quote Link to comment
freaky510
It stumbles from the start low rpm even if i rev it up and drop the clutch it starts cut out. right now it has a 200 and 140 in it and from what i read thats not even close to right Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
check your timing... also you may consider getting your distributor recurved. Quote Link to comment
freaky510
so with those jets i should be fine??? lol i have spun my dist 360 and same thing Moved the cam to 3 been thru the whole timming Quote Link to comment
izzo
Give me your carb, ill give you my weber and intake... thatll solve that right quick :D Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
get a timing light! for a car like your, and running a side draft its almost a necessity. Your jets may be a little on the bi side, but not so much that you couldn't tune it in... (my opinion) Quote Link to comment
freaky510
get a timing light! [/quote/] lol i threw that thing away years ago lol at an idle its about 12 deg below tdc Quote Link to comment
MAG58
What emulsion tubes are you running? In My Opinion, It's more important for under load drivability than the Mains and AC's. You're hardly on the mains below 3k anyway. And what Accel jet? Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
when i first rebuilt my weber on the 73, it would do that. idle nice, rev it without a real load and it was fine. as soon as i put a load on it, she would sputter and die. found out my float level was off. not enough fuel to keep it going while i was driving. adjusted the float and all was good again. freaky510
OKay I have replaced everything in the ignition. Running a msd box (got it for cheap) a msd SS coil and a Mallory dual point dist. It all has its own power supply. I can launch hard with 3 guys in the car and i get up in the rpms and it stumbles all over then kicks back in why why why it never ran like this before. what i got and did Got a Norris cam 300 Dur 511 lift ( it was phlebs and hang510 i think) closed chamber head completely gone Thru Eric's old dcoe 45 (Ran great on his car) Msd 6200 ( IT was cheap lol) ran the same in stock set up too Msd SS coil (not as cheap as the box lol) Mallory dual point Dist.( have had it for awhile) Msd Helli coil wires put new jet in weber 185/165 everything has new points cap rotor wires you name it i went Thru it lol Iam lost. I have tried 3 different dist and the same thing stock or with the box. Actually with the box i got a little better performance out of it. We (mech and i)have the cool guy timing light (you can set you retard and advance and hits on zero pretty cool light (http://buy1.snapon.com/products/diagnostics/time_mt2661ap.asp) any way HELP Edited September 7, 2009 by freaky510 Quote Link to comment
mnementh666
I'm not much up on DCOE's, but I'd check fuel pump output and pressure, and the float level. Sounds like you're starving under load. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
did you check the small fuel filter on the weber ? they tend to clog. Quote Link to comment
kiznook
are you running any vacuum advance? I think we had talked about that before, but I can't remember. I don't remember what's in my carb at the moment, I'll have to pop the top off and see. Quote Link to comment

I think we had talked about that before, but I can't remember. DISLEXICDIME
did you use soft mounts for that weber? did you over tighten the soft mounts so they dont flex? is your engine and distributor grounded? Quote Link to comment
freaky510
did you use soft mounts for that weber? did you over tighten the soft mounts so they dont flex? is your engine and distributor grounded? no soft mounts and yes its grounded Iam going to check the grounds anyway i was thinking that earlier Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
that's your problem weber side drafts need soft mounts or else you fuck up the needles and floats. the vibration throws them all out of wack. so is it just bolted to the manifold? Edited September 7, 2009 by DISLEXICDIME Quote Link to comment
freaky510
even with a single sidedraft?? Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
vibration still effects a single carb :P kiznook over tightened his and his floats got stuck and almost caught his car on fire Quote Link to comment
