frank k
absolutely new to this forum stuff though I've owned my '71, 510 since '76. I want to get rid of the dual points system. Where do I find an electronic ignition set-up that will fit my engine (L10)? Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
Hi frank, welcome to ratsun. Ratsuners, what do you think about this "all rebuilt" matchbox distributor? http://datsunpartsllc.com * $175.00 * Completely Rebuilt Using All New And Reconditioned Parts * You Will Need To Buy A L28 Distributor Base Too * A Stock Tachometer Will Not Work With This Setup I know you can get these as cheap as $35 from wreckers (i've bought 'em for that price) but a new Vacuum advance is $30+ and new advance bearing plate is $75. Most used ones have bad advance and bearing plate. So this price sounds fair for all rebuilt with warranty. New Cap & rotor is $14 at Rockauto.com Quote Link to comment
HRH
Or Pertronix drop in hall-effect. Can't say enough good things about it. http://www.mattalbertson.net/pertronix.htm Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Pertronix is listed for a sIngle point L16. Will not bolt up the the dual point plate dizzy. It can be made to fit the later single point L20b dizzy and mount if the ring above the point lobe is machined off to so the magnet ring in the Pertronix kit will fit on the point lobes go to olddatsuns.com great website Quote Link to comment
HRH
True on the single point dizzy, but it's pretty easy to find those. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
Ratsuners, what do you think about this "all rebuilt" matchbox distributor? * $175.00 overpriced! rockauto still has them for ~$130, basicly new w/warranty. i got a new unit a few months ago @ close out for $65 :D i have a used matchbox avail as well as a single point. Wharf Rat
Welcome :) Pics Please ....... thank you Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, $126 at Rockauto.com -- rebuilt. HOWEVER, that's without the module. For $49 more the other place includes the module. Or I'll sell anyone a good module for $10. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
HOWEVER, that's without the module. the few i purchased, the pic showed w/o a module. i recd them all w/it attached??? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The first place ($175) all the pictures show the module attached to the distributor. Implying it comes with it. Quote Link to comment

frank k
many thanks to those who provided info. I think I know what I want to and need to do about the El. Dizzy. Also have a (minor) problem that when I turn on a turn signal, left or right, both flash. I found a flasher available for bidding on Ebay. From Singapore, 11 WEEKS for delivery! I passed. Will also post photos when my computer geek helps me figure out how to do that. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Any flasher will work. Get one from a Chevy or Ford. $1 at Pull-A-Part in Lynwood. I don't think a bad flasher causes both T/S to flash at same time. It might be a loose ground wire. Quote Link to comment
