samsung
I had plans to build my s13 240sx for road racing. but my daily 510 with coilovers and big brakes and sways. schools my far more built s13 in handling. im just looking for opinions/insight on the two as a race car. if there are any big down falls of a 510 I may have over looked? im now jsut torn between building my s13 or my spare 2dr for the track. Cuts metal like mad
depends on the class you WANT to run in... Quote Link to comment
samsung
time attack car so it does not really matter what i do to either of them ill either be in moddified or unlimited. and just open track days. im looking at it as witch is better coice when built. Quote Link to comment
rusty510
put the 240sx's motor in the spare 510, turbo it, gut it out, cage it, seam weld it, and put a fully adjustable suspension on it. that would make a nice time attack car. oh and lots of fiber glass body panels:D Quote Link to comment
samsung
i would use the motor thats currently in my s13 370hp+ sr20. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
240 body parts are easier to fined Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
hell 240's are easier to find... Quote Link to comment
WagDatto
Agreed with the posters above... If you plan on drifting, plan on crashing a time or two... S13's are replacable for cheap enough, and body panels/aftermarket overfenders, etc are cheap-ish, too. Ding a 510 quarter panel and you're stuck with box flares or body work... Quote Link to comment
oregondime
i second everybody else! 510's are to rare to drift, smash then butcher other 510's for parts to satisfy the hobby. as much as id love to see a 510 owning on the track :) make the dime your daily :) Quote Link to comment
samsung
see im not worried about daily driver because my ka 4dr is my current daily i have 2 2drs and a wagon. I cant have four daily's Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
don't plan on wrecking??????? I didnt either. wasnt trying to drift either, 510s are not made for drifting but holding the road Drifting= smased car sooner or later Drift aold RX7 cheap!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
LAYEDOUTB2K
i was going to say to do the s13 until i noticed you are building it for a time attack car so it wont be as likely to get damaged. my dad really regrets the amount of 510s he has scrapped over the years due to finding replacement panels for his old circle track car from wrecks. we are currently building a 510 for asphault hill climbs and track days so i say go for it with the 510. heirfaus
I'm building my 510 for drifting n don't plan on wrecking.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: I don't think anyone plans on crashing. But just for realities sake, go ahead and plan on it. Quote Link to comment
HRH
If you're building it for track use and you want to win, the S13 is the better choice simply due to aerodynamics. I'd build the 510 anyway, but to achieve the same speeds if you have a long straight, you're going to need a shitload more hp than the S13. Quote Link to comment
comply
I'm building my 510 for drifting n don't plan on wrecking.:lol: Don't solid axle cars make for better drift platforms? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
the drift cars have big sways bars in the back like the 240sx as they are Independant.Once is breaks loose then they work on keeping it slipping Most 510s roadrace or street cars will not use a sway bar in the rear. Car will break loose ezer on uneven road. Quote Link to comment
THECHRISTIAN
If were talking daily drivers here, How hard is it for your 240 to pass emissions? Your 510 doesnt have too so build it. Stupid Government which I work for doesnt want you to have fun why play their game, just build your 510 and keep the 240 for going to work and back. Quote Link to comment
Schroeder6th
You might consider looking into Vintage Road Racing the 510. The 510's are making quite a comeback. I can steer you to a 510 Racing Expert located in Philly who can answer any and all questions you might have. Regards, Doc Hudson Quote Link to comment

rusty510
i thought he said TIME ATTACK CAR, that is not the same thing as drifting. and as hainz said 510s arent made to drift they hug the road....510 time attack car FTW. and as far as crashing they do sell fiberglass body pannels!:D Quote Link to comment
