  1. ...I'll be rebuilding a L16SSS for my car over the winter break from school. I suppose it all depends on what you're after. I don't mind being slow, and I think that the SSS engine looks great. Plus you won't need to worry about engine swap stuff, and the gas mileage is very good.
  2. I'm not sure exactly what I need - it's pretty hard to find a good picture of a throttle linkage! I'll take a picture tomorrow morning when it's not too dark outside.
  3. Ah, crap. I just realized I posted this in the wrong section.
  4. Thanks for the tips! I'll be sure to grab those M-B parts the next time I make a trip to a yard. Datsun parts are very hard to find on the east coast, but I'm pretty sure I can at least find the Mercedes parts locally. Last time I went to a yard in New York, the only Datsun was an early-80's Z that looked like was pulled out of the ocean.
  5. As the title says, I need a linkage from my gas pedal to the carbs. The previous owner of my 710 installed a Weber carb, and in the process they modified the throttle to be operated by a cable instead of a linkage. The gas pedal is still original, and there is still a bracket and pivot on the firewall, but the rest of the linkage is gone. Get in touch if you have a spare linkage!
  6. Yeah - I just found out today!
  7. The Datsun made it to Syracuse and back over the weekend - the only hitch was when the alternator bracket lost a bolt. Luckily a bolt from the radiator fit, so I made it home to Brooklyn. Here's the sturdiest package I've ever received in the mail: Ka-bam: Before: After I've been trying to track down a 160JSSS grille for my 710 for a while... maybe even before I found my 710! I spotted an expired auction for one on www.trademe.co.nz, so I posted to a New Zealand Datsun message board asking for help - a fellow named Murray came forward and offered his assistance, since he travels to the USA pretty frequently. Sooooo, the grille was sent to Murray, he took it on the plane with him from New Zealand to Las Vegas and then dropped it off with FedEx for the trip to Brooklyn, and now my car has a new face. Next up, I'll be modifying my bumper mounts so that the bumper is about 2 inches higher, and I need to make some brackets to mount the turn signals below the bumper.
  8. That's your car isn't it? Did you need to do any modifications to mount the non-USA grille?
  9. Well, just the grille from a 610... but more pictures are always welcome!!
  10. It doesn't look too bad in the pictures! If you end up parting it out, I could use these parts: underhood/engine wiring harness white plastic grab handles (the ones inside, above the windows)
  11. Yep! Two people have left notes under my windshield wiper offering to buy the car, and three people who passed by while I was working on the car today asked if I would sell it. I park the car near a garage, and the garage owner told me that people have stopped by to ask him if the car is for sale. Jeez!! I'm driving to Syracuse tomorrow morning, and it will be nice to go for a drive without the ghostly glow of the alternator light. Plus I'll finally get a chance to solder my rear defroster back together. I live in a 4th-floor walkup, so I can't get to the car with an extension cord!
  12. I finally had a day off today. Thanks Rosh Hashahna! The previous owner installed an IR Saturn alternator, but it konked out so I installed a new regulator and stock alternator that I picked up on ebay. I also had the time to fix the broken clip in my fusebox (for the "Common" fuse.) ...and the new washer bottle seemed ready to pop off of its mount, so I found a 240Z one on ebay. The electric pump was shot so I swapped one from the new washer bottle, though I had to pop open the pump and reverse some parts so that the various inlets and outlets and power socket would be in the right place.
  13. I didn't know there was such a thing as a ricer sightings thread! -and I just found this modernized 710: (look closely, it's in there somewhere.)
  14. ...just sharin' some pictures... The B-210/610 was found on a New Zealand site.

    Original Radio

I found this picture of a 521 dash: (and if you're interested in getting rid of the other radio, it looks like it would work in my 710. ...right now there's a big empty hole in my dash where a radio should be.)
  16. Looks like a 710 just popped up. ...(I could really use a rear package shelf, if anyone has a chance to check it out.) Pick-n-Pull - Rancho Cordova [More Information] 3419 Sunrise Blvd Rancho Cordova, CA 95742 US 916-635-2027 Make Datsun Model 710 Year 74 Row 0034 Date On Yard 08/28/2011

I think this might be the same car too... looks like it is the victim of several unfinished projects: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2589883/1974-datsun-710

Ka-blam: http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/cars-sale-wanted/460774-1974-datsun-710-sale.html The seller is trying to flip the car for 4 times what they bought it for, I think.

If you look online a little, you can find a thread where someone was trying to sell that orange 710 in Florida for 200...

Yep - the only difference is the plastic trim, which fits onto the trunk the same, it just looks a little different.
  22. Welcome! Is it a 2-door sedan, 2-door hardtop, 4-door sedan or wagon? There are a few different types of glass.
