  1. ...yeah I think the one I sent should suit you a bit better - let me know if you need the other three!
  2. Our Datsuns are brothers!! It seems like I've seen the same dealer stickers and plate frames appear a bunch of times - maybe there were much fewer dealers back in the 70's?
  3. I saw this thread today on a South African website - the restoration of a 160U-SSS Amazing photos! http://www.nissanownersclub.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8944
  4. Just sent it off - it should be there by 3pm tomorrow!
  5. Do you have much for the 140J/160J/Violet/710? (This is Will in New York- the person that Jon Rodwell sent a few E10s to a while back)
  6. I just noticed I didn't answer your question from a long time ago! I went to an animation festival in Finland that was screening films for a few days (a cartoon I made got into the festival, so I figured it would be nice to see a place I'd never visited.) I didn't want to just sit in theatres the whole time, so I contacted someone who lived in the area that I'd met through the Datsun Owner's Club in the UK (Juhani Halmeenmäki.) He offered to take me to a couple Finnish Junkyards, and it was amazing! There were so many cars that never came to the USA! Like Citroen Visas and Wartburgs and Ladas! He didn't have time to take me to a really nice junkyard that was way out in the sticks, but he gave me directions there. I hopped on a bus and rode until I spotted a Datsun 100A sitting atop a junkyard fence. The owner of the junkyard was one of the two people I encountered in Finland who spoke no English, but we managed to haggle out a price for all of the Datsun parts I found by writing numbers on a scrap of cardboard!
  7. "D" huh? Maybe it's a DeSoto. or a Dort. or a Durant. Maybe a Delahaye?
  8. I have a 74 710 2 door with 14" wheels (14x6, I think) and it is a pretty tight fit. The rear wheelwell edges needed to be rolled a little for clearance.

    610s unite!!!!!!

Is that 610 eating that guy?
  10. From what I've read, it sounds like 280zx struts are the ones that will fit in without too many modifications. I think I've seen some of your ads on craigslist in the past (unless there's more than one person in New Jersey parting 30 years worth of z-cars!)
  11. The front suspension of my car is pretty clunky right now, so I'm looking for some 280 struts and coilover springs to do an upgrade. I'm in Brooklyn, NY... does anyone know of a nearby junkyard Z car? Or have some of these parts?
  12. I like those later 510 hatchbacks. Very boxy, but with enough quirky details to keep from being boring. ...like the trim on the C pillar and the taillights!
  13. I just saw your price drop to 2000 on craigslist. I keep getting notes under my windshield wiper from people wanting to buy my car. It seems like Brooklyn has a big crush on the 710! Should I send them your way?
  14. All of the other 710s I've seen with those fenders (the fenders used on 710s from every country EXCEPT the USA!) have little plastic plugs covering holes for fender mirrors. Maybe your car already has them, but they're covered by a little bit of body filler?
  15. The tricky part will be to find a 610 or 710 donor... Datsuns are pretty rare out here! Z-cars are usually the only Datsuns that I see when I go to junkyards in the area.
  16. I might be able to Frankenstein the throttle linkage for my 710. Also, I could use the front turn signals. And if it has one of those green light-up hazard light switches, I could use that too.
  17. I did a little searching, and it looks like the linkage on a 280Z/ZX might be closer than the linkage from a 510. Maybe I'll need to frankenstein something together?
  18. Ha! In addition to my missing linkage, I see that my car has another problem: It's filthy! (by comparison, at least.) My car was originally automatic - it came with the window sticker and a whole mess of paperwork from the first little-old-lady owner. I think that the automatic/manual swap was one of the reasons for the electrical problems. Some relays were added because of the neutral start relay from the automatic. ...and then one of the wires fried and left me stranded near some wildfires in California. Luckily the car didn't go up in flames! That little bracket with the pivoting piece is all that is left of the linkage - are 510 parts much different?
  19. No worries - I'm super busy with school, and I still need to make the circuit board for the gauge cluster before I'm ready to put the new pad on the dash. (it took a while to draw this up!):
  20. One of my friends from the festival is making a trip down to New York next month. ...so as long as he can smuggle a bazooka-shaped parcel across the border, everything will be okay. Did you hook up the tach?
  21. The stainless strip is missing on the SSS grille, but one of the pieces from the stock US grille looks like a good match. I just need to bend it a little to match the curve.
  22. Here are some pictures of what I have currently: Throttle cable hooked up to the gas pedal: Throttle cable coming out of the firewall, and an original bracket with a rotating piece of linkage remaining: Hey Abe! Want to trade parts for this Violet badge? It would fit your grille! I bought a 710 part manual from ebay, and the seller included it in the auction. Oh... and if anyone has a fusible link setup (top) or one of these big green electrical connectors (bottom) it would help my ongoing efforts to get my car's electrical system back in order.
