  1. agreed. the parts house will sell you a straight hose and tell you it will work. it will kink and not work. i dont even think the braided versions is available anymore. when i see a good one in the yard i buy it. are you sure that noise is not from your rear end. seriously though. the plug on the driver side of the tranny will be very very tight. fill it up until it pours out the hole.the fun part is getting the fluid in the damn hole without a pump. get 3 feet of 3/8 inch hose or similar to slip on the top of a 90 weight fluid bottle that has the pointy/cone tip. when cutting off the tip of the bottle make sure not to cut too much or too little. put one end of the 3 ft hose in the tranny fill plug hole and snake the other end up through the engine bay. stick the bottle of gear fluid upside down with the tip into the hose tightly and snug but not too tight or the cone top of the bottle will break. then hold one hand on the hose and one on the bottle and squeeze hard. if you do it right it wont leak all over your hand. it's nice to have another person holding the hose under the truck in the tranny fill hole. warm up the bottle of gear fluid to make it flow easier. i usually stick it in front of the fire and rotate a few times. fill your rear end the same way. with the same fluid. fisch keep those q's coming. i'll post in the project section soon with my progress pics for you to see.:D
  2. yeah i've been looking at some reviews and my camera and am surprised it's at the bottom of the line. although i think it takes great pics and video. i dont want to defend my camera here too much but it does have the words review, menu, and delete instead a trash can symbol ect. but your right if its easy to use thats what i want i read that the canon function wheels are hard to navigate and some of the settings are so called hidden deep in the menu. i'm just looking for a nice basic point and shoot. with video. actually it takes great video. unlike all the youtube vids i see with camera phones. ugh. i have xp media center edition on my computer and always liked media player instead of quicktime/flash player. i just hate to think i have to look at every brand/model at the store then come home and review if they have wmv.
  3. i'm going to buy a new camera in the $120-200 range sometime and want some opinions on what you use. cost, megapixels, and video format. i'm most interested in knowing what video format you use cause at the stores it doesnt say on the camera spec tag or on the camera box. wtf? thats one of the most important details. i prefer media player over quicktime. i like the camera i have except it uses quick time and is sucking down batteries like no tomorrow. i have a kodak c743 7.1 megapixels. 2.4 inch display. i dont care for the super slim ones i want to be able to actually hold it in my hand and i noticed most if not all the brands have a sloppy function knob. so far the kodaks have the best function knobs, very snug tolerances. watcha got?
  4. got the engine pulled out tonight. nice following on the honda sohc 4 engines on sohc4.com. i wanted to take a pic but my camera batteries went dead. seems to be an ongoing problem with this camera.:mad:energizer lithium, duracell cr?? rechargable's they all die. last year the duracell's would last for monthes.
  5. cool! i love the spokes. the non custom model had them. i might even like them better than the comstars on mine. check out these spokes, bike on epray.
  6. this has been the longest standing project ever. as they all do it started leaking between the head and block. i dissembled it and many months later lost all the hardware to it. many years later i found them hiding in a coffee can in a obscure part of my dads garage. so about 4 years ago i was inspired/motivated by a neighbor and had the head and block/juggs bead blasted. 2 years ago i'm trying to get my friend to use his shop at work to mill and hone to specs. i never saw the parts again. he moved and left behind everything he had. crap fast forward to last week i bought a wrecked cb650 right down the street. i noticed a guy on ebay starting to part it out after i clicked the distance button. picked the bike up with my 521 of coarse. all i have to do is swap the engines,do some carb work, and minor electrical. the bottom part of the frame comes off to slide the engine right out of the right side of the frame. so maybe sometime in the next month or two i'll have it ready to ride. i will have the engine out this weekend. lately my friend rob has been motivating me. he has a 2007/8 ninja. he told me to sell all my cars and buy a bike. i told him i would get this thing back on the road and keep my rides. i would just want to buy a low mile older bike anyway. 10 years in the making. but alsa the light is shinning.:)
  7. i have yet to find the vin on my 521 frames. everybody says where they are "top of the right side rail" and other locations. i just had my engine out last month and didn't see it anywhere. i've even asked on this forum before with no luck of finding it. so if you do find it or anyone else, please take a pic of it's location "which should be in the freq asked q's section" and post it. and not one of those pics that are so close up you cant tell what part of the frame it is. i've had the bed off, looked under the wheel wells, engine out, no damn frame number? wire brushed the whole truck. good luck. and for the rest of you, dont tell just show.
  8. i notice most of the dgav water chokes are converted to electric. i have one manual and one electric. most people prefer the electric but there is nothing wrong with the manual ones. hardest part is finding a 521 stock choke cable with knob. my numbers are oddball for some reason instead of 32/36 i have a 32/35 and a 3?/3? i'll have to look at that one again. both run great though.
  9. damn what a cluster full of crap. part number is at the top and the link at the bottom of the page should work.

  11. yes the 620 ones will work. as far as the adjusters being frozen i always take mine out and put them in the vice. i use wd-40 and a screw driver the size of a golf club and maybe a pair of pliers to loosin them back and forth and get them apart. after that i use a wire wheel on my drill and clean them up and reassemble. i dont think any of the adjuster parts are available anymore. they're strictly junk pocket parts as pac coast says. i'll shall start saving these when i go to the yard also. good luck bro.

    Mufflers?

i have a walker on my 521 with a l20b. it sounds close to stock with just a little bit more pep to it.
  13. whats the ride next to your truck?
  14. even the cat likes it. hehe. nice truck, i hope to have a 520 someday. welcome to the site. if you want to put a l16 in i think the motor mounts need to be moved.
  15. dholic or anyone else that knows this, when did the inside of the knobs have the metal liners? early 521 or 520's? and was the symbols style changed between the 520 and 521 or did the changes occur during the 521? not trying to thread jack you gen just trying to get the facts for us.:)

  17. as far as the red light switch knob goes they are all with the headlight symbol. many people have/had them on the hazard switch but i've never seen a hazard symbol that was red, they are all light symbols. if you have a red hazard symbol post a pic cause i would love to be proven wrong. i would like for them to exist but they dont.
  18. for those just learning about it your a few days late. i'm wondering if she had all those kids by herself with no help in the basement/dungeon or whatever you want to call it. thats crazy shit. anyway that guy should be tortured somehow. yeah thats as disturbing as the texas compound bullshit. the one girl is 16 and has 4 kids. wtf!! i'll stop now before i go on a religious rant:D how about those perry elvis hair style's and clothes.:D looks like they're on little house on the prairie.
  19. damn bro, you had the fastest reply on that ever. you notice the two different spinners? some people dont like the one with both bars at the end like in the z auction. they like the single version like in the other auction from the 620. $60 is kinda spendy for that 3 piece setup i think. the second auction i linked is from the completed listing's under advance search most people dont even know about.
  20. maybe this guy will just sell you the part you need. his auction didn't sell. http://cgi.ebay.com/Mid-to-Late-70s-DATSUN-620-PICKUP-JACK-w-Handle_W0QQitemZ220222008962QQihZ012QQcategoryZ42606QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  21. here is one with more pieces than you need unless you need the bag too. http://cgi.ebay.com/DATSUN-240Z-280Z-JACK-HANDLE-LUG-WRENCH-STORAGE-BAG_W0QQitemZ160220107224QQihZ006QQcategoryZ42614QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
  22. actually those are getting hard to come buy. harder than the jack and the long rod. the bag spinner and lug are the toughest. sorry i dont have a spare. i usually search "datsun jack" on ebay. i recently seen a jack setup that had a sheath for the long rod.
  23. it might fit a 521 depending on the size of the ball joint. would have to swap arms. i know the chevy luv mirror fits after swapping the arm and they dont have that crazy flaking problem. now i'm curious. nice score.
