  1. KoHeartsGPA thank you! and no i don't have a build thread but i might start one once August comes! I'm a broke college student at the moment, but my plans are to clean it up and get it driveable before september with some elbow grease! B)
  2. Bought this one about a month ago. It had been sitting 1990, but after a bit of elbow grease and fuel, it started!
  3. Thank you for clearing that up!
  4. So will an 1980 210 "A series" dizzy also work on an L16?
  5. Se ve excelente!
  6. My 620 used to get full of oil all over the passenger side engine bay, and after many headaches and degreaser cans later. I found out that my mechanical fuel pump was seeping oil through one of the holes that it has (towards the firewall side). Turns out that as it was seeping oil, the direction of the radiator fan would blow and disperse the oil all over the passenger side of the engine bay.

  8. I used Lacquer thinner to clean my gas tank. The car had been sitting since 1990 and had about a gallon of old black gasoline in it. I poured a gallon of thinner let it sit for an hour or so and rinsed it. all the black tar looking stuff at the bottom of the tank came off really nice.
  9. Turns out I had my choke thermostat inserted the wrong way!
  10. Hello Ratsun, My name is Erick and I've had my Datsun 620 since November and it's been extremely reliable by just doing regular maintenance on it, until yesterday. I took it to school Yesterday and it drove fine the whole way home back. About an hour later, I was going to run some errands but the truck wouldn't start over (just kept cranking). So I gave it a little gas and it started briefly (like a second or two). Ever since this incident, the truck has been having a high idle speed, and it just won't go down. After a bit of under-hood investigating, I started playing with the choke thermostat and found out the the high idle cam mechanism isn't engaging? (when the engine is cold I step on the throttle and notice that the carb plate won't fully close like its supposed to. My question is, does the fast cam idle have a spring on it beside the one on the inside of the chocke thermostat? or how does it engage when you step on the throttle? Any help will be greatly appreciated :) Thank you, Erick
  11. haha makes sense, Thank you Elkie!
  12. I have a question on this topic... I have a 1979 Datsun 620 and i got brake calipers from a V6 Pathfinder 4x4 (Dual Piston) and both hubs and spindles from an 1989 D21 4 Cylinder 4x2. Now my question is... Do i just need the spindle from the hardbody like so? Or Do I also need the bracket bolted on to it like this? which is the the thing bolted right behind it Thank you, Erick
  13. So it's not worth it to re-ach the leaf springs ]2edeye?
  14. I'm with Kneesamo! and Thank you! I always wanted all terrain tires on my 620. I like how they do sell all terrains for stock 620 rim size! B) I'm looking into re-arching the rear leaf springs and get the truck higher from the rear :)

  17. Could also leak from the head outlet in the rear passenger side. Could also be loose hose clamps (this happened to me last month).
  18. Try starting it without the pcv, meaning just tape it up "temporarily" (where the two holes are) and that will stop the huge vacuum leak which in turn should make your truck at least start :)
  19. I just did this, and was surprised that my pump actually works! Thank you so much for the write up! only thing is that when i was taking out the connector, the contacts came off, but a simple solder iron on these contacts and they became even stronger! :)
  20. My new to me 1979 620

  22. Hello good morning, I have been reading on how to tow vehicles with automatic transmissions and i have found out that people take the drive-shaft off when towing vehicles with automatic transmissions, but i was wondering (since i'm going to be picking up a 1978 Datsun 620 this weekend). Can i just take off the rear drive shaft that goes from the differential to the carrier bearing, and just leave the front half that goes into the transmission so no fluid will leak out? Thanks. Erick :)
  23. wow! That's pretty darn strong! Didn't even break off! keep it up mike, they are looking great!
