  1. Reverse light looks like the same one as on my ZX box. Should all be the same, I bought a new one for like $20. The part number should be around these forums somewhere. That's a nice gearbox, the shorter 5th is great for the track if you use it for that.
  2. Wow... It could possibly be a NISMO competition box??? That is the closest ratios you can get for a 510 gearbox without a custom gearset. With 3.90 or 4.11's that should be a bit of fun.
  3. Post pics of the shiftier base. Remove the dust boot, ect. What engine? Looks almost like a C trans ??? Fill port is different from my B trans, and mine does not have those two bolts at the end.
  4. :console: Driving footage? Sounds like fun. I'm only really familiar with the roads and parks around the oakland skyline/redwood regional area. But any of the mountain areas around the bay are pretty great. I'll definitely make it if I can.
  5. Royal purple causes bearing growl in Nissan 5 speeds ?? This gearbox didn't growl with 182k on it, put in my 510 with RP and it growls. I'm putting some redline MT-90 in tonight to see if it helps.

    1. Laecaon

growling and fast shifting into 2nd gear grinds. :/

  6. Whats the point in having boso pipes, if you don't use them? I revv my car a bit here and there. Makes Dat Boso Rat rumble. More Boso Zed's. Probably a repost... have missed a bunch of this thread.
  7. Either way, I'm getting DRW steelies in whatever size I choose... so isn't hurting wallet so much, but the drool is getting all over my desk.
  8. I may have to go 15x10's on my car.... They just look so good. This thread should be NSFW tagged.
  9. I saw that car in person with those, it looks damn good. Mine probably won't be that low as no coilovers. 16x8 0's seem a bit too positive ? I think at least -10 and -15 in the rear with a slightly stretched tire ...
  10. Rota RB stagger package ... http://www.racinglab.com/rota-rb-280z.html Those 17's look good, but they look a little big on a ZX. I'm thinking a 16" or even a wide 15x10 with a 225-50 would look great but would take away from the rolling diameter. I'm still looking for the right tire option on mine.
  11. Damn whore... I've been trying to convince myself NOT to get 15's for the ZX due to the low pro tires I'd have to run to make it look right. You aren't helping. Oh and I'm going to have polished V-pipes out the back.
  12. Meh should have put a honda FWD motor in the back seat for mid engine. Bcus Race Car. I do like civics, but FWD and ricers make them unappealing.
  13. You guys and your posting S130's are going to make me a poor man...
  14. They're great for shifters! I love the size and everything. Unfortunately part of mine broke off last night while shifting... :crying: I'm probably going to get another one and properly drill and tap it out this time. Right now its just glued on and its not the best solution. @vuk, thanks ! My friend who lives by me was impressed by my rear suspension setup for the cost, and asked me to develop a leaf combination that does not require blocks for his KA stock axle goon. Hoping for 2" drop ... But my current combination is at most 1/2" lower than stock leafs. I'm going to hit some wrecking yards to find some leafs, once I have the setup complete I'll post a write-up about my budget bolt-on wagon rear setup.
  15. Thanks! I just used some wheel cleaner, meguiars, black magic, ect all those brands pretty much work the same. If the rims arent shiny after that, you'd have to use a polishing compound like mothers aluminum polish and an electric drill attachment to really get them shiny. Then I use a soft brush after the wheel has been soaking for a few seconds in the cleaner, to get all the brake dust and dirt loose. Works great on my Konigs. I ended up not painting the front brakes, I just left them rusty as I'm going to go with ZX brakes and calipers soon. I just cleaned them up with a metal brush and some grease in any points that needed movement. They work fine. For the rear brakes I just used some rattle can primer and grey paint.
  16. No I decided to go a different route with the suspension for now. The HPK255's use to be on amazon for $380, but I just checked and it looks like they don't sell them anymore. http://www.amazon.com/Tokico-HPK255-Suspension-Nissan-280ZX/dp/B006MCIWGO
  17. So that suspension setup did not work, so I did this. I flipped the 3rd leaf onto the top of the pack, and added a truck add-a-leaf in place where the 3rd leaf use to be and then used spring clamps for more stiff. So now its a ton more stiff in the rear, A ton less body roll. I can kick the back end out on a corner now! And I changed the gearbox to an 83 280zx one. Now needs more low. And its running again! Now i have another driver while I finish the ZX.
  18. Damn Alex, you look good crossdressed. Datzenmike would approve. I'll actually be there before you, about two blocks away at my friends house helping him with his VW bus.
  19. Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow.
  20. Okay, I bled the clutch again and re adjusted the master cylinder, slave cylinder now has clearance, I adjusted it with 1-2mm play and put a return spring on it. Everything seems good now !! Thank you everybody for your patience and help. Car drives so much better with that late model transmission. Sits up nice 3000rpm @ 72mph with the current diff.
  21. I did not know you could buy new leaf bushings from nissan for goons ! I may get some. Thanks for that recommendation, they're pretty close to where I live.
  22. original 4spd 510, why? Its a 510 clutch, the later Z slave won't work in the clutch fork. (needs the ball/ adjuster)
