Has anybody installed an aftermarket tach in the stock 1972 510 dash that didn’t come with a tach.
Looking at Speedhut 2-1/16 tach. I’ve used there tachs before and it’s a quality product.
Wondering if anybody’s done it before. My car has clock in the dash that doesn’t work. Thinking of installing the tach there.
The housing behind the clock is approximately 2-1/16 ID. Speedhut’s gauges install with a threaded ring that would be behind the panel. Not sure if the ring would fit.
Saw an old Sunnen mini tach installed on the steering column in a 510. Finding and buying a working Sunnen mini tach is a crap shoot as they’re not made anymore.
Everything I see online aftermarket is made in China and has not so good reviews. Speedhut is made in USA and is good quality just not sure about the fit.
If you ever thought you don’t need to run a fuel filter in these old Datsun’s take a look at this.
This filter came out of a 1972 510 Wagon. Was a relatively new filter installed within 100 miles.
Keep running a filter in these old cars. This tank was removed and flushed in preparation for new engine.
That’s interesting. The Riebes in Placerville has a collection of old Rupp and Bonanza mini bikes. Ones with suspension and bigger wheels. Don’t remember seeing any with the Hodaka motorcycle engine. That one was my dream mini bike as a kid.
Peter Fonda’s bike in the movie Easy Rider.
Lot of controversy around the bike. Who built them, were there two originally made for the movie or four?
They sell for huge money.
I always liked Billy’s (Dennis Hopper) bike. Much better handling with more traditional chopper lines.
Captain America had 16” over front forks and raked triple trees. You can see some of the ill handling trates if you watch closely in the movie.
Great site Matt. I didn’t see the snap bushings I need yet but haven’t looked at everything in the site. Many other useful things.
Thanks for the link.
Not familiar with that particular transmission.
If it’s like other Nissan five speeds with the three shift rods and detent balls sounds like their orientation is incorrect.
Anybody know a source for the plastic snap in bushings used in the door latch assemblies. They’re used in a couple of spots where rods attach to the door latch. Like the rod for the pull-up lock and the rod for the key tumbler.
Also looking for the plate that attaches to the key tumbler. Need both left and right plates for driver and passenger door.
Just installed the gas tank back into my wagon.
If you get 5/8” fuel line with 29/32” OD the hose will fit through the frame rails. Amazon had the hose.
With a little heat and some lubricant the 5/8” hose will fit over the gas tank stubs and the stubs that lead to the plastic tank in the rear fender well. The stubs measure approximately 11/16” and it was pretty easy to get the 5/8” hose to go on them.
Looks like you’re missing the tab that fits in the groove of the speedometer gear and holds it in place. The tab bolts to the bolt above the speedometer gear seen in your picture.
