  1. That's gotta be one of the scariest things that's ever happened to me.
  2. So our 20 year old Briggs and Stratton 12.5HP riding mower went out with a bang tonight. We'd be hearing a slight crankcase rattle out of it for the last day or so, so I changed the oil and topped it off... Used it all day today without a problem until there was a split second rattle and it made a very abrupt loud series of bangs and shut off. Thought you guys might like to see the results from the autopsy. As you would think, the rod was what broke. But the question is, why? Surely the rod wouldn't just break with no reason. And why would we hear rattling and be able to use it for nearly 12 hours before it broke? Surely it had another problem... Here's what we're working with. a standard 12.5HP Briggs 'n Stratton motor with the case freshly cracked. As we expected, the rod was in pieces. No scoring to the aluminum case or to the cylinder walls. ^^ BUT wait, what's that big broken thing there in the last picture? The counterweight. Shattered into two pieces. The counter-weight link was broken in half as well. Now that we can see what else it broken, lets look back at the rod, because it broke in such a cool way. Surprisingly no scoring to the crankshaft. Dunno how, but whatever. As of right now, we're missing a chunk of the rod as well as half of a bolt. The determined cause of self-destruction? dum dum duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............... The mower realized that Justin Bieber was riding it and decided to commit suicide. THE END.
  3. Lawn mower imploded into a million pieces. Doing an autopsy!

Imploded? Did a black hole form inside of it?

Does DuraLast even make lawnmower-specific tools?

  4. Long time before I see this  It happened. ;) My cup holder even works on my trucks! _DSC0063 by metalmonkey47, on Flickr
  5. If you've thrown another starter on it and it did the same thing, that's not likely your issue. Unhook the wire from the solenoid, have someone hold the switch to 'start' and look for 12V.
  6. See, here's the thing..... You shouldn't have to repeatedly go and check your balance every transaction to make sure the money is there. Especially if you just made a deposit. Sure, check as needed, especially if you're expecting to spend a good deal of money, but if the check was deposited and the bank was planning on holding it, they should ALWAYS notify you especially if it's a large sum of money.. It should be a policy. Hell, at Chase bank, I can check my available balance online and at one point it would show my recent deposit as available even though it's being held. The 'Chase' excuse was that they had an error processing the transfer from PayPal and it shouldn't have been listed as available. long story short they refunded the overdraft even though they still tried to worm around it. Sucks regardless. Just seems to me like a bank should notify the account holder if a check/deposit is going to held more then 48 hours.
  7. Fucking engine in the lawnmower siezed without a single odd sound >.< Just turned it off, went back, and now it won't turn over at all. Only 1/4 quart low. fuuuuuuuuuuuuu

All good now :) Sprayed some PB Blaster into the cylinder, breakerbar on the pulley, and it turned right over. Turns out it wasn't siezed (my brother swears it was after he looked at it, i hadn't yet) just looking like the solenoid too a dump. No 12V to starter under start, but the battery was at 11.60v

  8. Be careful of your words. Had a friend just about get in a lot of trouble before because of a short sentence he said. Of course, the bank used it as an excuse to screw him. Don't get a hot head and screw yourself into a corner man. Know what you're gonna say before you walk in the door and leave it at that. make sure that they know how you feel, without getting overly excited. And most of all, don't let them screw you. I hate banks.
  9. Still haven't tracked this down, however I think I know what it may be. I was under the truck adjusting torsion bars and saw the paint was rubbed nearly 100% off of the driver side rear shock against the diff. Gotta figure that out and swap them around.
  10. Thanks guys! No problems at full lock, however when i steer hard at speed, my rear tires hit the fender. I need to stiffen up the rear and flare it! Lets do it man! We're gonna have to set something up very soon!! About the tire stretch... When we ordered the tires at my tire guys, Rather then a 225/50/15, they shipped him a 205/50/15. (I only ordered two for the time being...) We decided to mount the 205 and see how it looked. Decided it wasn't too bad, and that when I came back to get the front two, we'd order the 225/50's and swap around. For the time being, I took my two 205/60 Falkens off of my 15x8's and mounted them for the rear set. Just waiting to find some extra $$$ and we're just gonna upgrade and maybe do a 225/45/15 all the way around with the Hankook Ventus.
  11. Almost got one for $20 that was pretty clean. I don't think they're worth a lot.
  12. A local buddy has the same exact issue with his 620. After replacing one that he got from some unknown parts store, the piston keeps popping out. I just take a bolt that was the right diameter and a tad bit longer then the push rod, cut the head off, and round it a bit. That is, assuming that the slave is the problem.
  13. Legit!! gonna polish the lips? What size? 14x7 looks like

  15. Nice! Should have known Cali law is more strict then GA :P
  16. Make some measurements on the car. You can use willtheyfit, com to calculate total dimensions with tire profile included and measure up on the car. I doubt you'll run into any problems. I'm pretty sure Indy510 has run 16's at some point.
  17. Happens to me at least once a night. I just refresh and I'm fine.
  18. This is true. Fucking californians Me, no. But I have a friend that's registered for road side assistance that's uses them occasionally when helping with an accident. I don't do the whole 'bright flashing lights' thing. Permits just a cool sticker
  19. Thank you sir! I was actually just looking at ZG flares, and that's probably the direction I'll go, since they're cheap/easy/and provide some nice flare for the $$ I gotta talk with Chad soon about his flares. Meant to ask when i spoke to him yesterday. Check out some stock jeep flares. Wouldn't look bad on your hardbody. Might even be close dimensions. BTW, are you still looking for rims? I saw some 15x10 steelies on CL a week ago for $100 :P http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/pts/3250787584.html
  20. 13th it is unless any objections? No worries man! I have 4 other confirmed that just don't get on here ;)
