  1. As a few of you know I recently picked up a 71 1200 coupe. I haven't posted much so far as I've been trying to get it drivable before the winter weather sets in. Today I got the engine running good finally, installed a Weber DGEV, Pertronics electronic ignition conversion, new NGKs and wires. Now it runs like a top, no more stuttering, and stumbling at low speeds. I've recovered and replaced the boards in the cargo area, and the rear seat back. Instead of paper thin vinyl like it came with, I used light weight black carpet. It came out pretty good. I also got it lowered 2 inches all the way around, so It looks better on the outside. Unfortunetly the rear sway bar I ordered was 9" too wide, so I didn't get that on. I'm going to try and post some pics, hope I get it right this time! :P Previous owner in northern CA Headed home in Reno Not bad for 79 horsepower Dash almost finished Fender repaired A14 with junk carb. Seats from ??? At home in my driveway. Fender before repair
  2. I'm hoping some one in the 1200 group can help me find the few parts I still need. I'm in need of a rear bumper with guards, and any of the plastic trim pieces from the cargo area on a coupe. Also I need a left tail light assembly with the amber turn signal lens. Any help would be great, Thanks! :D Almost forgot, looking for a factory tach also.

    New carb

I just finished installing Weber DGEV on my 1200 today, and I'm very impressed. It made a bigger difference than the one on my L20 in my 620. I found mine on Ebay, you can save some money there, just make sure you are getting a real Weber kit from Redline, not a copy. If it doesn't have Weber and made in Spain or Italy cast in the body it's a fake. You will love your weber!:D Good luck.
  4. It's a week past the 24th, update please??? :poke:
  5. I can't believe these dummies did this after making us wait this long!:angry::angry: Did they at least say how long it was going to take to fix their screw up?

    My thoughts exactly, Mike! :P
  7. Thanks for posting the cool wheeling pics, that truck looks like it was done by the same guy in Kelso WA that did mine back in 79. I had 9.50X15s on mine with a Detroit locker in the rear, and a Truetrac in the front. I never found any place I couldn't go with it. We had a big blizzard in 80 or 81 on Christmas eve, and I was out rescuing people that were stranded, getting them home, and was pushing snow over the hood, never got stuck once. You will love that truck more each time you take it out. :D
  8. I'm going to check with Nissan to see if a rebuild kit is still available, and I have looked on the 1200 forum, but no info on what I'm looking for.
  9. Prices on fenders and hood please?
  10. Is there any chance that you are going to start on 1200 coupe stuff soon?
  11. Is this still available? I've run Detroit Lockers for years with no problems you just have to alter your driving style. I have them in my wife's jeep and mine as well presently.
  12. I don't know exactly, I just know it's smaller than the 2" that most use, that's why there is nothing available for it. :(
  13. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. Since you can't find strut inserts for it, I may end up changing struts, if I can find out what will work. I didn't take as many pics on the trip as I planned as right as I left Reno, Gremlins started showing up, nothing major, but enough to be a pain in the ass. I'll let you know as soon as I figure out what route I'm going to take.
  14. Thanks for all the comments, I love the little hot rod more every day. It looks like a slow econobox, but as you can see in the night speedo shot, it goes pretty good. It has a A14 with a Weber, and headers plus the 5 speed = FUN! I just need better shocks, sway bars, brakes, wider tires, and lowered a couple of inches to be perfect. I was going to put a SR20 in it, but the A14 runs so good, I've shelved that plan for now. I've found a coil over kit that will work if I can find out what struts to use. As soon as I have time I will post more pics of Martins toys and tell you guys more about him, he's cool for 77 years young! :D

The second one is just a model posing, but the first one is my dream girl!!!! :P
  16. Just spotted your new 4X4, cool ride! Sometime I wish I never sold my 79 that I had built, the only thing I didn't like was the auto trans, but I had no choice, there were no sticks left, and the 80 were coming out soon when I bought it.
  17. Thanks for the advice and compliments, now if some one will tell me what front struts I can use to update it and be able to find good inserts for, I'll be in good shape. I've been driving it around a little and starting to work on getting the few bugs out of it. I'm already thinking that with a more modern suspension, and better brakes, this is going to be one of the most fun cars I've ever owned. :D
  18. Thanks for fixing my screw up, next time some one tells me what I did wrong, I'm going to print it so I can remember. :P
  19. Thanks, that gave some info, but nothing on what struts to use. Anyone that has modified 1200 suspension?
  20. I tried looking through the topics for info, but didn't have much luck. What are my options for upgrading the front suspension on my 1200? I have looked for front strut inserts, and haven't had much luck, so I'm thinking a strut swap may be the answer, but don't know what works the best? Any help will be appreciated. :)
  21. Well I got lucky and found a 1200 Sport Coupe that was in good shape, and affordable, so I made a deal and flew to San Francisco to drive it home last weekend. I haven't taken a lot of pics yet, but I'm posting what I have. This is almost the same car as the original I bought in 72, same color, but a 71. This is the guy I bought it from, very cool guy, and will tell more about him later. [/img] Just my new toy. [/img] First Stop Reno. [/img] I love the wide open spaces of Nevada! [/img] Sorry, every time I try to post pics, I can't remember hoe to do it. Sucks being a old fart! :(
