    My ratty 521

Nice job man. Keep at it....
  2. I wanted to bring this up again since some of us might have non-functioning 510 tachometers laying around. I just finished upgrading mine. Here's the process. ** thanks atomchurch for taking the time to take pics of the process explained above ** I was too lazy to upload and add all the pics I took of my process so I'll just add a few of the more important ones to atoms method. This was the board I removed from mine. As you can see below. Someone had already tried repairing the old board. I used a spare board from a 720 truck I believe. I can't remember which year I used but it's the square tach one below. There is a round tach in the newer 720's I think. The board is pretty much the same size as the original 510 tach board. The donor 720 board will fit inside the 510 tach housing with minor modifications. I didn't want to mess with my tach housing so I screwed the donor 720 board to the outside of the housing. The donor 720 board came with a Plug with wires that made connecting it to the vehicle a breeze. Here I am testing it. She lives again! The wiring how to is located in the following link. http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/articles/DQ_11.3_510_Factory_Tach_Repair.pdf It's basically power, ground, and signal from the - side of your coil. Assuming you have electronic ignition installed. Not sure if it's the same for the points setup. Thanks again to atomchurch and the Dime Quarterly.

  7. Registration cards from the 70's up until now $2,419 sticker price
  8. Back in 1986 , haha. I never really paid attention to the documents that came with my car until today. Looks like the car had 64,754 miles on it back in 1986. I barely hit 70,000 the other day. Unless ^^ it's 170,00 :/ :)
  9. R160 LSD just showed up. Gonna be a busy weekend....

  10. Disconnect the dizzy ground and check your other grounds.
  11. Ugh, that sucks! You'll have an extra set of eyes here in the valley.
  12. towards Cutler and Orosi? I love it here in Cali.
  13. Not enough info. Check the rear of the tranny. If the drive shaft slides in it might be the 5 speed. If it has a flange with 4 bolts it's probably a 4-speed. I think the 4 speed has a shifter held with a bolt where as the 5 speed has a pin holding it in place.
  14. Nice write up. Thanks for sharing
  15. Find a donor at the jy? I used a 620 one for my 521 when I did my 5 speed swap. I had to use one of those air hammers to get it off... I also remember someone here using a rubber conveyor for their truck. It was wrapped around the bearing. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/12452-ratsun-carrier-bearing-fix/page__p__166524__hl__%2Bcarrier+%2Bbearing__fromsearch__1#entry166524 http://community.ratsun.net/topic/31200-620-carrier-bearing-on-ebay/page__p__466534__hl__%2Bcarrier+%2Bbearing__fromsearch__1#entry466534
  16. I think sssr20det510 had one of those dashes in his 510 at one point. Maybe he can help answering your question.
