  1. no offense, the 929 is a GREAT bike, but screw the 929, especially if it had been down, the plastics are just getting to hard to get. and Hondas are EXCELLENT cars. I have an 02 SI and it is the best car I have ever owned. 250+k miles on the original k20a3 engine, and I swapped it out for a 2.4 liter. plus theres getting to be too many idiots riding motorcycles these days, and those damn maxi scooters!!!!!, hate those things. I sold my 79 Kawasaki kz1000 Mk II a few years back, thing was a torque MONSTER, but alas....., as much as I miss it, I hate riding in the city of phoenix, and the rest of az is fairly dangerous as well. I will have another someday.
  2. its really not that bad, I think you could find a pick and pull or something like that with a s30 there and cut the quarter of the roof out that you need, then just weld it back in there. jus tmake sure you get the whole rear pillar. shouldnt be too bad with some decent fab and a SKILLED welder. I say that cause this cant be done by just anyone, being a structural piece and all.
  3. those welds look fantastic!, your pro welder guy must be excellent.
  4. gotta love those automatic SR's, dont forget your pilot bushing, I've seen it happen, (not saying you would)
  5. and thats what I figured, I am gonna order some of the automotive grade butyl stuff tonight for the firewall
  6. I am getting ready to do this in my maxima, I have the complete dash and HVAC system out and just removed the old nasty firewall pad. I was considering using the peel and seal, but I am afraid since I am in Arizona and it gets hot as balls here the peel and seal will smell like tar once it gets hot and once it gets heated up from long trips as well. anyone have any experience with this? from my reading, the difference is that the actual dynamat like stuff, is butyl based and wont smell, but the peel and seal is asphalt or tar based and will. opinions? remember, Arizona, its freakin hot here, the roads are 135 ish in the summer, and the firewall can get close to 200 in some cars, this heat is no joke.
  7. yea I have the rare bird 81 l28et with the crank style trigger. I want to run the ford EDIS on it. I have squirt and spark extra
  8. so I have been researching megasquirt for DAYS and not found the info i am looking for. if I am trying to run a distributorless system, How would I get the correct crank angle signal to run coil on plug, or coil to plug, from the crank and eliminate the distributor, and also run the megasquirt system off of that crank trigger. I have a 1981 turbo motor with the pulley mounted CAS, but I read that these are not useful for MS, is there a way to make it useable on MS? just in mass confusion right now.
  9. If you claim it your insurance rates will likely go up, maybe not, it also depends on the company. the insurance will likely write the window cost alone out at over $500, even though you can get one for like $50 at a junkyard. the console and stereo wiring, if they damaged the car harness as well would be another several hundred on the write up. as for the stereo, the insurance company might not cover it at all if it was aftermarket, this would also depend but you may have to call that one a wash.
  10. so I used the borg warner throw out collar, not the stock 5 speed one, though I think the fs5w collar would work as well on this clutch, but dont quote me there. I know for a fact that the BW collar is working fine. I still have to fab a plate to block out the shifter hole and fit my boot. I need to find a center console badly as well. I did find a very good condition original shift knob though. I meant to take pictures of the mount while I was under the car, but I forgot.
  11. your build is beautiful, I havent seen many 710 around here.
  12. trooth, nothing to see here folkes.
  13. yes everyone wants to do sr and ka swaps, idk I like the SR engine, i just am not a fan of the KA. and I like the L better than both. If i was gonna go crazy I would do a CA or an RB. but that would be a serious decision, I like original engine series with larger size, EX. l16 for an l20, l24 for an l28.
  14. everyone wants to swap everything into everything else in the japanese world, even the god aweful LS1. it gets a little old if you ask me, nobody sticks with a stock engine. I mean I can see why in the 240sx (no offense KA guys) cause the stock engine isnt that great, but I frankly dont really get the KA24 swaps into datsuns, arguable the engine isnt that much better than an L series, and I have built them (probably my least favorite engine ever). before you all say "ohh but its got DOHC and crossflow heads" so? so do alot of engines, that didnt make them better either so what makes a KA so great. then the answer is "fuel injection" well you can do that on any engine for cheaper than the swap sooooooo....... yea.......
  15. if doing a corona, the BEAMS engine would be way better, its already miles ahead of the sr20. I have been wanting to buy a Supra MKIV for this reason, swap the BEAMS 3SG into that car and make it a GT500 replica, since those of you in the know, already are aware that the supra was NEVER RACED BY TOYOTA WITH A 2JZ. it was raced in gt500 with the 3sg beams and the 1UZ v8 EDIT: toyota also raced it with the T engine, inline 4.
  16. I just fell of my chair in laughter.
  17. i am not sure that lady will be fair to you either.
  18. I have been searching for 3 days now and i still cant figure out the answer to my question. nobody seems to have written anywhere that the search engines will find, which throw out bearing collar goes to the exedy clutch kit. so even though we have this amazing internet resource of being able to search for info, its still useless, like it is in at least %50 of cases when I look for things for days and still cant get an answer. so i guess its gonna be trial and error, lets hope i get it right the first time, cause I love pulling trannies twice.
  19. oil change should always be the first thing you do when you buy any old car, unless you literally saw the PO changing the oil before you got there. even still.
  20. the rb25 AWDs only came in automatic tranny. except the r32 gts-4 which had a manual. but it was an rb20
  21. You Have My Full Attention  this car has the potential to be an EVIL track car. are you running the full ATESSA system? what is your plan for the front suspension, complete skyline conversion? I assume the rb25 in your pictures is for mockups.
  22. short term just to get the 5 speed in, long term, l28et, borg warner t5, megasquirt, and thats just the stuff I have sitting here already!, check my build thread in Project Datto.
  23. using NA tranny, with 240mm flywheel and exedy 280zx turbo clutch kit.
