  1. dude dont get bummed, especially if it was a rust bucket, i think you made the right choice knowing that now. they are both factor 11 on the awesome scale so its a win, just not a win win, haha, depending on how you look at it. it would have been awesome if the z was low rust though.
  2. i wasnt able to find new anything so far!, a few things from other models fit identically, but I am in dire need of a center console and glove box door. and those are maxima/910 specific. by new, i meant everything in the car has been cleaned and painted with SEM Color Coat, which is some AMAZING plastic paint/dye if you have ever used it, if you want some color in your interior, i would try it. what parts are you looking for? I found out that the door pull covers from the b12 sentras fit identically and are better quality, those and the lock garnish piece. I am on the prowl for grey armrests, I have blue and the interior is gonna be grey/black/graphite when I finish it. I really have been meaning to update my build thread but i have been busy building me datto!!. if you have any lead on anything man let me know, cause ill take any color of glove box and console, but i need factory grey armrests since they are rubber not plastic, if i paint/dye them it will wear off on your arm, at least i think it will, i dont wanna find out really, my other option is to wrap them but i would rather have original ones.
  3. subscribed, nice, i got a already built l28et im dropping in mine, but its a LONG way out, right now im doing a complete restoration on the interiors and all the rubber, its worse than any engine or drivetrain project i have ever undertaken. god its just, overwhelming some days. but ill have the only maxima with a new interior and rubber. for now.......
  4. im a neutral party to this since im new here, and i dont care either way but it seems that this change wasnt community oriented at all, if you guys are getting so much dissent for changing it, why not at least explain why it wont be changed back, thats the problem here obviously. and saying that your community oriented and doing something that is done to a community with no forewarning and no vote, is generally not going to be recieved by anybody as "community oriented" if you want to change your opinion on being community oriented because of some idiots in the community, idk, im pretty sure we all have our own negative opinions on that general statement just my unbias opinion
  5. yes i have, and the point of his build very obviously was not "cheap"
  6. shit that could work too, i would think the fortwo motor would be a little small though, idk, i really wanna play with this idea, as far as i know the one originally posted are the only datsuns running EPS the best part about EPS is that it cleans up your engine bay soo much.
  7. yea i was gonna say, are you about to try and argue the ecotech is better than ANY honda motor of the last 15 years? i mean your joking right? im gonna just assume so. if you can name a better I-4 nissan ever made than the K-series, ill give you $10, not even joking around. im waiting for a k20a2 to be shoehorned into one of these. mated to a s2000 tranny,
  8. any of you guys ever seal your rear door vent windows? (the small triangle one that wont open) i did some searching and I cant find how to reseal them, or how to remove them without screwing them up. I think if i got them out i could find the same type of seal locally, unless you guys have a source for what kind you used any suggestions?
  9. im not dogging engine swapping in roadsters, i just wonder why a chevy ecotech. i would have sr16'd that thing in a second, or sr20 or ca18, or k20, but an ecotech? yea it makes more hp but, uh, yeah
  10. OMG i just noticed that you have a 1998 240sx, you lucky bastard!!!!!!!!!, arent there less than 2000 of them?
  11. Holy shite $1500, yea thats too much if it was an actual rack, then 1500 would be an expected price, but for something that goes through the steering tube? 1500?, i dont think so. they would be better off to mod existing z racks to be EPS racks. than building this setup they way they have it IMHO. theres other issues as well, the wire to the steering motor is too small, the wire on my civic is at least twice as thick, and they made tit even bigger for the 06 model year. the response feedback will not likely be to the common EPS expectation when going through the steering tube. i think a better option would be for us to modify the new civic or accord EPS to fit our cars, they look damn close in size, they can be had for around 5-600 with the entire system, and i have been seriously considering doing this in my Maxima/910. we all know the reliability of Honda parts so i would put my money there. and i might do so.....
  12. electric power steering is literally the best thing to ever happen to steering i have it on my civic, no lines, no fluids, no fuss no muss. its totally reliable, mine is at over 260k and NOT ONE ISSUE. fluid power steering is crap, i have always hated it, the lines the mess, and it always feels shitty to me. less road feel, less well, everything IMHO. but EPS (electronic power steering) its the way of the future, its so responsive its amazing, its like driving with no PS at all. idk what the pricing is on those kits though, if its over a grand then idk if i would call that worth it.
  13. the real question is "but why?" it would seem there is no advantage here other than saying "my roadster has an ecotech", honestly to me it seems pretty ass backwards, but o......k........ but the spectre intake piping just tops the cake!
  14. i dont have any, not all of us pop our iPhones out everytime we see a datsun. i dont like taking pics of peoples cars at car shows. particularly with my phone.
  15. so you sold a RHD 76 to keep a RHD 79? why out of curiosity? personally i would have kept the 76. but to each his own, I love it, i would own either honestly, sooooo rare, love the JDM mirrors.
  16. I was at our local car show this week, and I saw one of the most beautifully restored 1600's i have ever seen. everything was flawless almost all the wood was restored, everything perfect. And it had a Chevrolet Ecotech I-4 out of a saturn sky in it, not sure of the tranny. then to top it off it has a spectre plastic intake piping that was coupled into a U by 90 degree couplers. you can find the car on youtube, search datsun 1600 ecotech. kind of curious about what ya'lls opinions are on the car.
  17. damn I wish I had 3 inched in my civic, im at like 1 inch of actual damper travel in the front, and im not slammed either.
  18. for example, will these mount in the frame with little or no modification? http://www.ebay.com/itm/89-1994-Nissan-240SX-S13-1990-1996-Nissan-300SX-Z32-Front-Lower-Control-Arm-RED-/121067193423?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c302ac44f&vxp=mtr
  19. what if you ran the 280zx knuckles on 280zx control arms, or atfermarket 240sx lower control arms that have adjustable turnbuckles??
  20. if the clutch is coming out then you need a new clutch, unless you just did it in the last 10000 miles(in which case you should have saved the clutch tool!!!, lesson learned be that the case). Thats not really an opinion that is just the plain old correct way to do it, if you dont you will likely kick your self in a short period of time, and i know theres nothing i hate more than having to pull a tranny back out. short answer, yes you need an alignment tool, my guess is that autozone would possibly have them.
  21. yea i have heard of people using a thermos, whatever you use you gotta make sure you put a hole in it as dguy210 said. otherwise you have a nasty bomb on your hands, as the nitrogen boils ultra slow and puts off nitrogen gas it will build alot of pressure. the other thing you have to be careful with is when you use a few liters of it on a car floor you should wear a respirator, or just be careful, cause the nitrogen will displace air, its called inert gas asphyxiation, very dangerous, just be careful and you will be fine if your gonna try it, like anything its not dangerous if given the respect it deserves.
  22. if you can afford it, an even better method is liquid nitrogen, and its alot cheaper than you think, usually $5 a liter and you have to have a dewar to hold it, those are around 50-100$
  23. but for the price you might as well go with gtmat which is butyl based, its like the same price
  24. pretty stupid opinion. its not about being butt hurt man, its about being annoyed at other peoples lack of respect, dont pretend you dont get annoyed at it as well in some situations. unless your are literally perfect and never let anything annoy you, in which case, congrats!, but thats not the majority so your opinion doesnt help anyone, but then you knew that already.....
