More people need to live the way you do. Automobiles and energy are where we produce most of our greenhouse gasses.

IIRC the newer plants are far cleaner and use sort of pellets as the fuel, not rods. Also fusion is the way to go if they can figure out how to make it work.

But subsidizing renewable energy gives incentive for it to be created. While there will always be people that abuse the system, no one does it better than the oil business. They get way bigger subsidies and turn out record breaking profits every quarter.

Wouldn't the best thing to do with current technology is to do a mix of solar, wind, and nuclear? Nuclear energy has come a long way and is much cleaner than anything else out there (besides renewables).

If I plug it in where I know the power comes from fossil fuel then I am defeating the purpose of having an electric car.

We have to cut global emissions by 80% to slow down the current rate of climate change and have the possibility of bringing it back to normal.

I hadn't thought about the fact that it would be more appealing to steal something like that. Yea Kansas city definitely needs A/C and heat lol. But learning how badly we are affecting the environment has really made me want to make a change.

Well I'm still in school so no house yet lol, but I do plan to install solar panels on my home after I graduate. I was just thinking that if it was standing it might as well generate some power. Also a sort of regenerative brake like the prius should extend the range a bit but that wouldn't really be necessary if the source of the electricity was clean. And while I have you what is the cost of installing solar panels on a roof currently? I live in Kansas so I get tons of sun.

Even with current technology? I wouldn't need a full charge. Maybe if it charged 20 miles then that would be fantastic.

Glad to see this has been on several people's minds. I think a goon would be perfect as well. Battery over rear axle then I would plan on putting a solar panel on the roof. Since it would be a car I would drive to work then it would sit outside and charge while I am working. I would guess that a 100 mile range would be the most I would need to do.

Maybe a 510 goon would be a better basis then?

I will probably build an electric car after I am done with my 510 and was wondering if anyone had any experience. I will probably end up using a 620 as my base.

Still dont see the point. I understand the want to make your car look cool, but why do this? A diffuser will only work on a proper race car with some decent ground effect going on.

I would design it so that people can use their stock plugs. That will save you and the buyer money. Most of us already have at least one standard diff cover and I have no clue what those magnetic plugs cost. And a vent is needed of obvious reasons.

That would look just retarded on a 510. I rank that up there with fake hood pins.
