    Correct head gasket

I've never heard of a crank fire ignition. Care to explain more?

Its a matchbox so I hope so.
  3. Im not trying to say anything fails without reason. I was just saying that it is a little disingenuous to say that an old wheel broke under racing conditions when new wheels (even quality brand) fail under racing conditions as well. I also think its a bit ridiculous to just say the wheel broke and the person crashed near 100mph without any details at to the conditions and circumstances. I just want people to take what Dime Dave says with a grain of salt because he has a personal interest in selling reproductions.
  4. I re-read this and want to bring this back from the dead to call bullshit (kinda). Plenty of cast wheels fail, new and old. I can bring you dozens of pictures of rotas and other wheels that have been destroyed. So it is kind of disingenuous to blame a wheel failure in a racing situation of the age of the wheel when there are plenty of examples of modern wheels doing the exact same thing. If you want a real quality wheel that you can push as hard as you want then you buy forged, not cast. And I will defend Japanese metallurgy over chinese metallurgy any day of the week. We are fans of Datsun. Look at the incredible engineering our cars had for their time. Fully independent suspension. Super beefy blocks and great head design. The Japanese culture in general has always been detail oriented and that is why they now make some of the best cars on the road today. You couldn't pay me to drive on DOT approved chinese tires. Whereas Bridgestone, Toyo, and Yokohama are all excellent tires.
  5. are taiho bearings any good? main bearings for my l20

So no one knows whats going on with karnutz?
  7. Thanks for explaining smoke. I have very little experience with carbed turbo engines so its harder for me to wrap my head around the concepts. I think my 2.2 stroker will give enough power and torque for days. Maybe in the future I will build a 2.2 turbo, like kirden.
  8. That isn't quite true though is it Smoke? you're not increasing the displacement with a turbo, you're just shoving more air and fuel into the combustion chamber. You have to lower the compression ratio or else you would be blowing head gaskets left and right. On a NA motor you can run 10:1 compression and run street gas. You would not be able to do the same with a 10:1 motor that has a turbo. Obviously a properly built turbo will probably be more powerful than a NA motor but by how much and is that option even streetable? In the end I feel more confident in a NA build because there is less that can go wrong.
  9. Thats true. Also, couldn't you only run a single carb? I cant imagine there being enough room in a 510 for a turbo set up with dual side drafts. I guess its just 2 very different approaches to performance. One is optimizing every part of the NA engine to squeeze every bit of power out of it and the other is forced induction with a lot of customization. I imagine that it would have to be a relatively low CR motor with a custom grind cam?
  10. Well I understand the principle of both. But I always thought on a carbed engine it would mess with fuel delivery. You jet your carbs in accordance to your environment. Wouldn't the changing boost make the jets only efficient for a certain range then youre running lean or rich?
  11. i love the Unimog. I plan on buying one of the ex military radio ones and converting it to a expedition vehicle someday. I've seen one parked outside for over a year but still can't figure out who the owner is.
  12. I never understood the point of turboing a carbed car. I can understand supercharging as it is a more mechanical process. But for the money does it really provide more power than a properly built LZ motor?
  13. I have a bunch of cams If you want one. all from l20s.
  14. I can attest to cops hating ex military guys if they never served. When I was at USAFA I DDed one of my roommates and his friend from a bar. We were really close to being late for TAPS and I had to speed a little bit. One of the passengers is obviously not feeling good. Of course I get pulled over and the cop was such a dick. I told him that I was DD and was hurrying to make it back to the dorms in time. And one of my passengers was sick and I did not want him to be sick in the car. Cop took as long as he possibly could to process anything and of course the passenger threw up in the car. And then he whopped me with a 200 dollar ticket.
  15. Cops have slowly gone from serving the people to us vs them mentality where they shoot first then ask questions. No doubt there are kind and courteous officers out there but there are just as many trigger happy assholes who think they are at war with the population.

Well I meant small block ARP bolts. I am just trying to get the proper bolts or part number so I can take them to my machine shop so they can machine the rods properly. I want to be able to get above 8k RPM.

And If I am then I need small block bolts?

    Tie Rods

Yea it was through ratsun. I am not quick to judge about parts because I know that sometimes life gets quite overwhelming and you cant get parts out. My 3 bad marks were at a time when literally could not get anything mailed because I worked sun up to sun down. But this seems ridiculous. It was like 150 bucks

he said he shipped January 13th or 14th. And hasn't replied to me since. Again, not a witch hunt. Its not like it is the final piece to my car. But I am curious if others had delays.

    Correct head gasket

I am just nervous that the l20 bolts wont be able to handle the extra power of a stroker engine.
  22. No all my cranks are standard l20 cranks that are almost brand new. I am building a stroker engine.

Very useful thank you. And cheaper than small block bolts.
