  1. These images are a little old but http://foxyroadster.com/img/thumbnails.php?album=1
  2. Buying everything new and such might set you up close to 1g for EFI on an older motor, I cringe at anything over that price that isn't involving a turbo/superchager or some kinda motor work..... Should be about 6-700 counting ECU and part cost, if you do it all yourself. Basically for me it was.. swap to KA24 or go EFI.. I like the R16 after tinkering with it and thought it had loads more life and power available with a little work.
  3. I'm converting my R16 over to run EFI with MS.. its worth it on the fact I don't have to change anything out besides a few parts and get to keep the original motor in the car... Not to mention I have plans for running boost... I plan on using the ford EDIS setup and MS2. I'm going to be watching this for sure as I just like to see these older datto motors converted to EFI.
  4. Got my ZG flares in, now time to put them on this Sunday. I also now have 90% of the parts in for the car, the other 10% are stuff I don't need in this car.. like a soft top, interior, and such. I'll get pictures of it when I start the work on adding flares.
  5. Wow really? What was the number for it? I'll be home soon I'll get the numbers for all the bits I use to port and polish. I got like this 200 peice set last xmas
  6. I saw a Toyota 2000 in a yard around here once... Thing is once they go into the yard the owner wont let them lose... I was a sad panda that day.
  7. I use the grinding and cutting bits.. then polish with the sanding bits. What grind/cutting tip have you tried? http://www.drillspot.com/products/82066/Dremel_9901_Rotary_Carbide_Cutter little costly on their own, but I got like a crapload in my dremel kit.
  8. if I remember a lot of them are based off of racing cars. I'm sure I will see the bad looks from Datsun purist for many a mile but my Fairlady will be in the Bosozoku styling. .. I've seen plenty of GT-R's and such but have yet to see a 311 Fairlady in the same style. Maybe I could get someone in japan to trade me a hakosuka for my fairlady LOL
  9. Guy put it on ebay I was winning tell someone outbidded me  Irony is I offered him what he wanted on craiglist and he didnt respond.
  10. what would we call such a haven? I just know it would need a gas station near by.
  11. Sounds like my kind of neighbors, mine whine about body work sounds during the day light hours. (least used to, they moved. We own, they are normally renting)
  12. Not to sound bad, but most Datsuns are not worth a whole lot, wish I could say different but well its a Datsun. I picked up my Roadster for less then 500 dollars and it could be parted out for more then that... I'd expect your truck to go for around 1-1500k if it runs and can move under its own power. As someone who buys a lot of Datsuns making offers on them are rather hard... I just follow the saying.. They are only worth what you'll pay for it when I make offers on cars like this one, I could see 1k as a fair price on the fact it is low rust. Honestly not setting what price you'd like to get for it makes it hard on buyers like myself, we have to consider how much *we* think its worth, and then consider what you think its worth and split the difference.. I've had people try to sell me 100 dollar Datsuns for 1000 dollars, scoff at 500 on an offer and would walk away each time.
  13. APPLE IT BURRRRRRRRRNS! I find %95 of apple users that call into my job don;t know anything about their apple and give me an earful because of it. Its not my job to know how to guide my way around their apple product, its to give them the information to put on their apple. As for consoles, I'll just leave that one alone... :P Now if an apple user knows what they are doing they can be very good tools for media editing.. Though haven't kept up on the newer ones for such. I use linux, its like driving a Datsun.. Runs well, half the crap doesnt work unless you fix it and cost little to nothing if not free.
  14. would have cost me more to ship any used rims and tires.. got a 20% off and free shippng for my next order when I bought the first set of rims. I kinda wanted to see what they looked like after the car was panted not to mention they wont look like that they'll be painted black with chrome rims. If I dont like them I'll stick them on something else. Also converting the lighting over to LED on the rear and same for the front blinkers.
  15. I've dropped any motor swap ideas for this one, I'll buy another for that :P like everyone else I cant have just one  I've been on a break from the work as while removing the drivers side door I banged my arm and hurt my ulnar nerve.. I've picked my wheels out, I dont know how they will look painted and on the car but heres a link to them http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=WVI-12-470404&view=32&N=700+4294923107+4294923105+4294755962+4294793323+4294755966+4294919982+304840 I'll be getting these hubcaps http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=WVI-12-470404&view=32&N=700+4294923107+4294923105+4294755962+4294793323+4294755966+4294919982+304840 I just needed some new shoes for the car mostly.. Now for an update on what I have to fix.. lol Found why this car had two new tires on only the front... the left pass side's lugnuts are rusted and I'm guessing him or someone else didn't use any oil before removing and broke the stud loose... Planning on running new brake lines as I went through the hoses and found bends and cracks, oh yeah another rat skull has been found lets hope the rest of it isn't left in the car... Getting ready to pull the dash when my arm gets better and redo the wiring there and start running the wiring harness into the body... I've also obtained a new camera, so I'll be able to do some new work.. I have the original antenna still at least, I have already about put my eye out with it once before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT89awZKI4I my notebook made it look like I shut it harder then I did, lol.
  16. updated my host, I now own the domain name foxyroadster.com My new images are at http://www.foxyroadster.com/img Well my camera died before I got pictures of the rest of the car.. here are the spots with the rust.. Since the weather has been rather chilly out I've held off on any work. This is about the worst it gets on the car, the only other spot is here. on the bright side no major rust on the rocker... I'll keep you all updated, I'm waiting to be able to order my new floorpan first and will be welding up the tiny holes
  17. I read that they had someone running with a turbo running like 14psi I think it blew up though.. I'm going to try to talk to the people who have done the swap, I'm not worried about it being practical, though parts aren't hard to find for any of the motors... I can get all the basic parts they listed on the threads easily stateside.. KA24 head, L20 bottom end, a few of the parts they need and then the z20 timing chain and gears then the time to figure out how to mate them together and god forbid getting it to run...
  18. Actually they aren't too bad, about the same as most imports. I didn't expect cheap, its just the cost of getting a RWD SR20 here is quite high I priced about 1500-2000 locally.. thats not even having it in the car yet... Also it doesn't seem to require a machine shop completely, some things are out of my doing yes but the machine shop here doesn't charge too much and is always welcoming new projects. All I've seen is threads showing all the info, with no pictures... So I kinda have the first half of the info needed... Just not knowing what the motor looks like is a pain as looking online for diagrams and pictures is normally flooded with other crap.
  19. Yeah I saw that much, they was talking about using the Z20 gears on the DE I think it was.. waaaaay too many post to really sort through on those threads. I know theres a coolant line I have to plug up, I just don't know which one and such as I've never seen either motor.. I'm in the planning stages of this project Also, This wont be the first hybrid motor I have in a car I own.. I've worked with a honda which I converted the F22 to an H23 with F22 block.
  20. Have to do major cutting with the SR20 into my roadster, and well not to sound cheap but I can get the parts local and cheaper then I can any of the SR20 ones...
  21. I've been looking all over google on info for this, I've found quite a bit but the only site that seemed to have all the information (was listed on the ozdat site) is down or something. I've read through all the threads on their forum, but man you can get lost in them lol... Anyways I can understand what was in those extremely long threads some what as I haven't ever really found any good pictures of either motor on the areas I'd be working with... I was hoping maybe to get some pictures as I've never really worked with either motor much so don't know what they look like  Basicly I might have access to a complete L20B in the near future, and I just would rather keep carbs in my roadster.
  22. I guess you could call it work, I've been putting in an hour a day on it... I don't even think of it as work, the pictures I have make it look a lot worse then it is really
  23. Kinda debating on replacing the whole stock wiring harness with a new harness or not on the car. I'll be rewiring the engine harness, rear and front lighting, and adding in new stereo wiring, just figure upgrading to new fuse style and also the fact it will be new wire. The body is ready to be lifted from the frame, my POR15 is here and will be coating both the body and frame in it.
