  1. any chance of getting a roadster shirt?
  2. You running EFI too or just edis ignition? I noticed no dizzy.
  3. gotta remember I'm running the stock R16 and keeping carbs. Plenty of room on the other side of the engine yes, but not a crossflow head. Look at how jammed up that U20 is, sure it will fit but if I need to remove the header or such look out!
  4. I'm going to be doing a bit more to the car tonight, I'll messure out the piping I need but shouldnt be longer then 8 feet since its going under the cargo area which is literally behind the drivers seat... Hell the car is 13 feet long  Looking at jegs and can buy the pipe straight and bend it to what I want, even order U bends. Might just use exhaust pipe to also make the charge pipes.
  5. Too much heat and not enough room under my hood, intake will be in the trunk, oil lines wont be an issue as will have its own oil system, overall I am thinking with the location I'm wanting it at I'd not have that much piping for the charge piping considering no intercooler needed. I'm not needing 20psi, just 5psi above 3000 rpm which should be very doable. Considering I just did a crapload of bodywork to save this datsun I'd rather not cut up the rust free engine bay area to fit my turbo.
  6. the best thing for me to have is a wideband o2 so I can see the mixture, also dont plan on over 8 psi.. Will leave it at 5 overall and maybe do 7-8 at the track.
  7. I was gonna go with megajolt as the ignition system and the exhaust I will have to run new pipe anyways. As for the air box you shouldn't need anything bigger then the stock air filter box as you don't need to seal the SU's up to run blow through on them. As for tuning, just be buying different needles and adjusting the mixture. I'm considering finding me some 2L carbs, that or buying some side draft webers or dellortos. I had originally planned to do a suck through supercharger but am opting to try something interesting as I'm using the sc on another car. :P
  8. The biggest question is whos datsun did they buy? I know it was one of you guy's just look at the wheels!
  9. I'd consider talking to lawyer as its going to start getting costly, if they dont wana settle for the NADA value then I'd go for double of that just cause. Make sure to emphasize on the fact its now a classic car and is getting super hard to replace. I wouldnt say its a dino ferrari, but I know some of these datsuns are harder to find then vettes or stangs. (This is just me speaking, you might tell them you want it fixed and they cover the cost.. know any good shops in the area?)
  10. I hope you guys who love the 510 grab up as many as you can cause they will probably skyrocket in cost now. If it really is bumblebee :(
  11. I thought it also added 50 hp to your datsun.
  12. Well I think the stock R16 could handle a bit of boost, just would need to watch it due to the headgasket.. If I was too worried about compression I could just swap to an H20 head. I'd say honestly I'd have maybe 300 bucks in the whole turbo setup as the SU carbs can be setup for blow through.
  13. http://www.nadaguides.com/SectionHome.aspx?l=1&w=22&p=0&f=5003 Shove the NADA value down their throats. Sue the fuck out of them!
  14. well I think going from stock to 5 psi would be a kick in the ass for my 96 hp of pushrod fury! Plus have it all hid from the eye so people will think its one of these http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/TurboTip/Turbo-Charger-Kit/Fake-Turbo-Sound-Tip/533190/ :P
  15. could use header wrap, not the best but if you use the silicone spray would help keep moisture from killing the pipe.. My main reasons for wanting this is space in the engine bay and the roadsters are known for running hot in the engine bay so would help keep temp down. I'm thinking of just throwing together a junkyard kit and see how it runs.. I'm thinking my main cost would be the intake piping and the turbo, I've got plans to stick the air filter inside my trunk to keep moisture away from it.
  16. I get that, yur just trying to keep me from hoping for major boost and it falling flat on its face. I'm just hopping for a little kick in rear and not fill up my engine bay.
  17. call me weird but I've always wanted to turn a wagon into an el camino like ride but would make me sad to cut up a wagon.
  18. yeah, I'm aware its not going to be the same as on the header, but I'm considering it since I'm only having like 3-4 feet added (don't plan on an intercooler) vs some of these other cars almost 10 if not more. I thought this was funny :D
  19. I've googled it quite a bit, just always good to hear first hand experience from people.
  20. I know its probably overkill but if you're breaking rear ends on a goon might consider getting a ford or gm rear end cut down to fit. Can find them everywhere, wont cost but a few hundred to get cut down and axles (with spares) made. I'm considering the ford one cause they had the same datsun lug patern.
  21. I'm kinda iffy about what STS says on everything but their kits seem to show no major lag on lots of cars on youtube.
  22. Most the kits I've read about don't have too much lag, but they also aren't running above 7 psi, I'm going to take a guess at sizing the turbo and nab something up for a smaller then 1600cc engine. I know up close it has more then just pressure but the air is a lot "thicker" and thins out through the rear. and skib no naaaws my gf would murder me with an axe
  23. Just curious if anyone here has messed with one at all? I've read different things on them and considering a way to not cut my body and install a turbo without jamming everything under the hood of my roadster as I have a crapton of room under the car and the turbo would be protected by a frame.
