Been looking at doing that, I'd like to but I'm thinking I may just use an lcd due to space and also quality. I'm digging around for an old fashion green screened monitor but they all seem to be way to long to fit in the dash plus power hungry!
I've seen them, I just want a little more customization with it plus nothing beats the price of free! lol Plus tons of open source software for carputers
I was thinking of adding a carputer in the roadster since I just scored a free working notebook with a broken screen..
Only problem I'm thinking of is kinda ruining the old car image with such an add on but at the same time could make a really awesome addition if done right..
I'm looking for constructive opinions on it.
main reason I'm thinking of it is I'll be upgrading to fuel injection with megasquirt soon so I'd be able to have an extra set of gauges at all times and even do datalogging really easy!
basicly my idea was try to keep it looking vintage.. was gonna get an old C64 keyboard and make it a usb one and such. I can hear people screaming neeeeeerd from here.
yeah it makes it feel like a race car!
I'm replacing my DOT dash for a home made flat dash I plan to get some toggle switches on it and such. Plus having it woodgrain is classy!
someone needs to buy this roadster
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-1600-1968-DATSUN-1600-FAIRLADY-ROADSTER-Runs-and-Drives-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem53e49847feQQitemZ360317470718QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks
screams rat and it passes the buy me test, it runs and drives!
A lot of these companies do the same thing, I found some sakura copies I liked but I just couldnt bring myself to flare the car for rims that arent the right pattern.
The real work equip 01's aren't that costly, I kinda lol'd as google shopping shows the rotas for 500 ea and the work equips for 400 ea.
Hell, I got a set in 13" for 600 total which will be going on my vdub.
