  1. I NEVER see any 510s in the boneyard. In the 2 years of junkyard diving I've seen maybe 2 and they're always completely gutted. Oh and I saw an A10 once.
  2. My problem was getting too close when I was spraying. So I'd get a lot of runs or the bubbling. I have to keep reminding myself to keep a distance when spraying then I get a better coating.
  3. Oh trust me. I would've fucked that all to hell if I had done it. When I did the undertrim I got a little bit of bubbling but luckily it's where you can't see it. Getting around the corners wasn't too easy either. I got more painting practice when I made my quarter panel emblems. I messed up a few before I got the hang of it. I'm getting better. Just finished painting my grille recently. Painting vents ain't easy! I'm getting to be a pro at this paint stuff now :)
  4. Oh and I took one of my original plastic pieces and had them color match the paint to it. They did a great job at matching. When I ran out of the paint I found another guy closer to where I live and he matched the paint really well too. Pretty impressed. I keep meaning to get more from him.
  5. I got a friend to do it. I was still a newbie at the painting process and I didn't want to f* it up. The undertrim part with the vents I found NOS. It was black. I washed that down with dish soap and then primered and painted it.
  6. This whole dash assembly except for the undertrim was blue.
  7. I always pull that stuff too. The dash, stereo cluster, steering column cover, glovebox and any other plastic bits and pieces that are in good condition I'll pull. Someone's always looking for that stuff too. I've only come across one dash pad that was clean and it was blue. Car must've been garaged cause it was pretty clean. I took the entire dash assembly and sold it all on ebay. No takers from here. Are you only wanting it if it's black? You may want to consider any color and paint if necessary. My entire dash was blue. Painted it brown. Brown is hard to find :(
  8. No problem! There's been a rash of square eye 210s in the boneyards here lately. Haven't seen too many round eyes. I'll keep a look out tho. I'm always out there molesting them for parts :)
  9. This is what the grille looked like before I painted it.
  10. Has it been painted before (do you see chipping paint)? The grille on my 210 is plastic but it hadn't been painted over so I can't say what would be good to remove old paint. To clean up I just took a soft scrub brush and washed it with dish soap. I then used Krylon Fusion for plastic to paint it. They also have a UV resistant coating you can buy and I use that over the paint after I've got it nicely coated and it's dried. I found aftermarket headlight frames so that's why the chrome looks all nice. I'm sure someone else had done something with their chrome. I had painted my old headlight frames (before I found those aftermarket ones) and used chrome Krylon on it. It's not bad but nothing compares to the real chrome.
  11. I've been finding tachs a lot lately but only the square eye. Yours is a round eye 210 right? If I ever see one I'll grab it. I generally pull tachs anyway cause I know people that don't have them want them.
  12. I wish they made them in 210s. I'd love a 210 Hot Wheel.
  13. I love watching people in my rearview trying desperately to get out from behind 'this slow ass Datsun' only to get in the lane next to me and go nowhere. It's LA people! Traffic sux!

Ha! That's only cause your truck broke down. You and John both had some power under those hoods.

You, naner, are a dirty birdie.

  14. Sunday, Stanley and I drove out to the Valley to take a look at a house. The house was cute and had a lot of potential but for the price and the amount of work that needed to be done it wouldn't be worth it. It needs to be completely gutted. The bf and I would've been ok with that if the price of the house was a lot less as we're ok with a fixer upper. It was rather comical when the realtor asked if we had cash. Um, if I had cash I'd have a house already and it wouldn't be this one. Must've thought I had some bank roll thinking I saved a fortune by never buying a new car cause I cruised up in Stanley. I was actually curious to see if I'd get the cold shoulder because I rolled up in a car so old.
  15. Hit the grille with more paint last week. Looks much better. AND I got brand new grille clips from Nissan to replace the ones that were broken. Sometimes it's like Christmas when I go to Nissan and they have what I'm after.
  16. i feel ya. The wrong rims and tires can ruin it. I'm not diggin those big ole wagon wheel lookin rims they're putting on vehicles these days. Keep expecting a horse to be pullin it and the gals from Little House on the Prairie in the front seat. When I was restoring Stanley (my 210) I found some old brochures on ebay so I could see what the car looked like new. I really wanted the stock look. Plus I really dig the wheel caps. Rims and wheel caps both junkyard finds. And they're the steel ones not the stupid plastic ones (the wheel caps that is).
  17. Agreed. I've never seen one there that was so overly modified it was fugly. I'm a fan of 'original is best' myself but some mods can be done in good taste. It's the ones that go overboard that can ruin a car.
  18. I loved the art on the van! First thing I noticed in the lot. I also liked the green of the wagon.
  19. Caught these at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank before they drove off.
  20. I was going to try and make this one with the bf this time but he's going out of town for work again. Leaves tomorrow morning and he still has to pack so we're not gonna make it. Have fun, hope there's a decent turn out and take pictures!
  21. 1/81 210 in Monrovia LKQ. Fairly picked apart. Auto tranny still there. Not much for me to take that I want to have spares of. Glass is good. Interior a wreck. Glovebox was in the back in good shape if someone needed one.
  22. Thanks! I'm going to check it out today and see if there's anything I can grab. I'm not a fan hatchbacks myself.
  23. Did you happen to notice a 210 there? Their site says there's an '81 that landed a few days ago.
  24. Everyone was more than welcome to pipe up and suggest something else. Believe me if my Datsun can make the hills so can everyone else. Stanley is all stock under that hood. He took the hills and turns just fine. Like an old man maybe but he made it :) That blue is nice datsunlicious
