  1. if your car has not been restored any I would suggest replacing bushings as well as tie rods and other worn out suspension parts. figure the car is so old the parts are worn out and tired. changing springs and shocks will help a lot and of course a good set of wheels and tires will help. also don't lower a wagon low. 2" max as you will have issues if you go lower. believe me not worth going lower. there has been no correlation or at least I know of that lower is always better.
  2. you can use KYB's as those are pretty affordable. I hear some have used a ford explorer 97-01 front shock for the rear of a wagon but have not tried that personally. I am using tokico myself.
  3. congrats on the wagon find. if you need weather stripping. check out the dealer as some items are still available and also check datsunlandsocal or datsunrestore.com. those sites sell items that fit well and are affordable. ebay and craiglist is fine sometimes also. I bought my rear hatch seals and hood seal from datsunland and then I got my window squeegees and felt from the dealer. if you need felt I may have a kit left from the dealer which is about 70.00 and can do two windows. check out wrecking yards to get the zx brakes and struts. if you need help IM me and I may be able to help
  4. I believe you have to either make a manifold from KA and cut off the runners and make new runners and use the mounting plates from a carb manifold and of course your carbs you want to use. you will have to make a cable pull for the throttle. you will also have to use a electric fuel pump. I believe Nissan motorsports may still sell a manifold or some guys around do make one.
  5. I kind of figured you would go ka or sr as it seems you were having issues with the L20. I wish I had some cash as I would not mind buying your whole lot of parts. I know you will sell it all and have fun with the kA swap
  6. Used set of 6 spoke 280zx alloys with 195-70-14 BF goodrich radial TA tires with decent tread. IM me with your email so i can send pics. selling for 300.00obo. located in san francisco and would prefer people local for pickup. Thanks Benzo
  7. since most of these cars are so old and maybe not knowing what has happened in past. if you have time take some time and take apart things like door panels and check for stuff inside doors like broken glass bits or tools left from repairs or crap just in doors. check all seals and replace. that usually makes a big difference in noise. also on wagons check the rear hatch latch as well as lube some of the contact points. my wagon sometimes squeaks in the hatch area so I put some grease on some contact points. all in all the cars are old and will do some creaking and popping here and there unless you totally take the car apart and address items to make it more like modern day cars (seam weld, seal replacements, old bushings, etc). good luck.
  8. sorry to hear that. hope it's something simple and not costly. sounds like maybe a bad disc or collapsed pressure plate.
  9. Hey Xerox Yeah from the pics that is what I remembered how the car looked. I remember the PO said Troy Ermish worked on it or may have built the motor for it. I like the Z wheels and if bumpers were back on. it is very clean body wise. I wish I could of made that meet. there was a item in the pics I would of liked to have picked up for my car to finish off something nagging at me.
  10. Hey Xerox who did you buy that car from. I swore a guy came by my house with that same car looking for some panasports but I forgot his name. the paint is very nice. Since you have taken over the car is coming along nice. I am sure a carpet kit will make it feel a lot better. That motor is a lot close to my set up.
  11. datzenmike is correct. the fronts are the same but the rear you have make or get one made. I have a rear one on my wagon and it helps or it compliments the fronts. If you need one I may be able to get one made still. check my pics as I have a pic of it. I could get it for about 50.00 and if you want the fronts it may go for 115.00 for all 3.
  12. that is one clean 510. have fun with it. looks like it will be a hot street car.
  13. welcome and that is a nice 510. I like the ac and cool that it still works.
  14. I just replaced my window cnannel felt and squeegees and what a difference. If you have worn out seals replace them. so worth it. I got nissan units and it fit very well. no more rattling and a more solid feel. this is a very easy task to do also unless the car has a lot of adhesive on the old parts , took me about a hour to do 2 doors. part # for the window channel felt is HO335-89931 passenger side inner squeegees 80835-26501 driver's side inner squeegees 80836-26501 will post pics in a bit just need to get my camera back from someone.
  15. PM'ed back and look forward to hearing from you. For all others that see this post I will be having more of these made but looking at doing some runs in stainless steel and some in steel.
  16. If you want one I have one for sale that is new for 75.00 shipped. you should be able to see a pic of it on my profile. if not message me and I can email you a pic. Benzo
  17. that is a nice wagon. good score and nice work.

    Goon help..

welcome. I have a 71 wagon also. I am using 2" blocks and cut the bump stops and am using coil overs in front on 280zx housings with the brakes and new shocks. I am using wheel wise 14x6.5 in front with 185-60-14's and 14x7.5 in rear with 195-60-14 tires. I had panasports that were 14x6 from a 280Z that fit well and perfect. I personally like 14" wheels and tires. if you have more questions message me. have fun.
  19. try calling Kameari for them as they have the OER's and those work or motorsport auto or even Bisi at Bisimoto as he can tune and maybe sell Mikuni or weber. socal should have many places to tune and sell. Rebello or wolf creek is good. I got mine from Rebello as he built the motor in my car.
  20. I thought I was the only one with this type or issue. my wagon is a 71 but ends up I had the early ball joints as well as the early type valve cover. I was lucky to find the ball joints and finding out a lot of people rather have my valve cover. I agree it is drag to find out when you get parts that they don't fit and holds up repairs
  21. I personally like to learn or know what my car is doing. I would try to learn about the carbs and tune on your own. I invested in some tools and learned a lot and am still learning. Rebello built my motor and set up the carbs but he was nice to show me things to look for. ever since I have been learning a lot. I guess try to find out the specs of the carbs as to size and venturis and what jets you have currently and then go from there. you should know where your timing is and condition of plugs and engine and ignition set up. you have to isolate issues and establish a base point and then go from there. I am not a road racer but I am sure you are getting a lot of vibration so check the jets to see if they are loose as I have run into that and also I am wondering would hard turns make the carbs starve when turning left? as for Troy Ermish. each individual would have to meet him and make their own judgement. I personally have not had a good experience with him. Good luck
  22. not to jack the thread but is there a major difference in performance from a pertronix installed dist to a matchbox unit?
  23. I am looking for someone in the san francisco area that has a fair priced used hood latch cable for a 71 wagon. if you have the cable and handle that is great also Thanks
