  1. Jrock, these are the wheels im looking at, but the place that I found them the cheapest is being dicks about staggering me a set, so im trying to find them somewhere else Or these... I dunno yet Im torn.
  2. yup that's the plan! im grinding/drilling all the spot welds, and am going to just weld it back in. If I didn't have other stuff going on, I would say I could have done this in one solid day. I would have it in tomorrow but am going to supercross. So im hoping to have it fitted and welded up sunday. only have 2 weeks and 2 days to get it painted! (that's the goal I set if it has any chance of being done by june 9th)
  3. I think that I like the idea of a sliding ragtop... more then I would actually enjoy one on my car haha its a cool concept, never actually seen one in person! james actually had one he mentioned when we talking back and forth about the car. right now the plan is solid baby blue, slightly different shade then the old one... I thought about the stripes, and decided the car would be a lot cleaner without them, and if I wanted to add them down the road, I would have a paint shop lay them out over me doing them. First test fit of the replacement roof
  4. 510 convertible anyone??? hahaha Im meeting up with kmc63 hopefully this eveing to check out his fiberglass panels, my dad has a lot of experience with fiber glass (building boats all his life) so installing one shouldn't be to bad. 425 id definitely not bad for a new one, but with the budget, and time it would take to get one here.... Jrock, I haven't ordered them quite yet, there making it a hassle to get me a staggered set, ill post pictures of the wheels im looking at though.
  5. from everything I've been told, popping out the carbs is either one a lean condition, which it doesn't sound like it is, or two the carbs are not balanced
  6. cant wait to see it sunday! (provided your still going to Nissan fest) its looking pretty clean!
  7. as I started working my way down the sides of the donor roof, I realized it isn't spot welded.... but rather what appears to be 1/2-3/4 inch long style spot welds... this is going to take forever
  8. Well these pictures might disappoint you then......... Ran into some more rust. considering replacing the whole taillight panel, in the long run it will save me time I think. More pictures this evening
  9. Jeeezz you guys are pretty demanding! haha I stipped a lot more paint off today... what a pain in the ass. have the shell pretty much all the way taken apart, except for stock suspension to roll on for now. and a couple broken bolts i have to work out. I started taking apart the extra roof for the sunroof delete. and started some work shaving some stuff in the engine bay. My goal for tomorrow is to get the rest of the paint i want stripped, off, im going to have to roll it outside and do a little sandblasting in some areas. then ill pick a spot and start working my way around doing metal work... as far as lower goes... itll be a bit lower. I needed bump steer spacers, and to do some grinding on the old car to go lower, so if i do that from the get go here i should be a little lower then i was. By the end of this week i should have a lot of parts in the mail... All my window and door seals, a suspension bushing kit, new wheels, 15x9 rear, 15x8 fronts, U-joints, new brake parts, etc etc. My vision for this is not to go crazy, but for it to handle well, and be like new, AND make EVERYTHING function properly.
  10. that is the best way to sum it up, im going to start using that when people ask what happened
  11. Sweet! I thought it was kinda funny when james said it was his old car, since I was considering his two dr for awhile as well! Yeah... luckily its just the trunk lid, I haven't found ANY bondo on the rest of the car. Its almost a half inch thick on that lid though! Yes.. yes it is, im not quite ready to give up on it, but needed the room for this! so My dad built a bracket that's bolted in up there to hang it from
  12. link to the new build thread http://community.ratsun.net/topic/54572-round-two-bagged-and-boosted-rip/
  13. For those who haven't seen my other thread Start here: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/42212-bagged-and-boosted-71-4dr-510/ I picked up this new shell from james on sunday. After my evening classes yesterday, I got it unloaded, pressure washed, started stripping paint, and got all the sound deading out. Some pics of my old car, which is the primary donor for this build, and the rest will be used to help out some other builds When I pull it in to finish stripping parts, ill be sure to get some good close ups of the damage so maybe people will start to realize why this car wasn't worth trying to fix. The next three pictures are the worst of the rust.
  14. It was to meet you to james! hopefully ill be seeing you at canby in the future! thanks again!
  15. heres a full shot of that engine bay.... (if you didn't see the closeups go back to the last page, last post.)
  16. the idea since its already stripped is sand it down fix the little bits of rust do the body work and paint it up all nice
  17. well it took us pretty much all day, we just made it back! Big thanks to James!!! Heres a picture from along the way.
  18. the drivers side frame rail from the firewall forward its garbage, which part are you looking for?
  19. That paint went on so thin.... Theres 3 coats of primer, sanded in between number 2-3 and sanded before paint. And then 5 coats of that shitty paint that went on like water, and then 5 coats of clear. no wetsanding. and I doubt he will so ill never get to see how good it could really look....
  20. Well the Z's up there.... And some pictures of the engine bay I did. Primer Paint
  21. Yeah I made the mistake of getting a starter and alternater from oreilys... theres a reason they have to offer a lifetime warranty.....
  22. Yeah, I see peoples project Z's on CL all the time, if they don't run they go for dirt cheap!
  23. I wish I could afford to do that! it would be nice to pickup a straight freshly painted shell, no arguments there! But, I know a few local painters through the track and the car scene around here, a few of which who said they would be happy to give me a hand with it.
  24. im sure the hardest part would be sourcing a dash, and steering components, most of everything else could be made to work. that would be quite the project!
