Bleach
funny how a kingcab uses the exact same bed size as the standard cab... why enlarge the tank? hmmmm.... the tank goes under the bed. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
funny how a kingcab uses the exact same bed size as the standard cab... why enlarge the tank? hmmmm.... the tank goes under the bed. I think he means long bed. The '78 FSM says 11 7/8 US gal. It fails to mention the long bed. Parts listing for '79 calls up two : Short wheel base and KC.... 17201 B9800 long wheel base................ 17201 B9860 this one has to be bigger. Buy the way i have a 1971 521 with the L16 and it is rated at 96 hp. 2 years later according to that 1973 spec sheet the L16 was rated at 92. They detuned them by 4 hp. Crazyness. BarryA
Regular Cab: 11.0 gallonsKing Cab: 14.1 gallons Seems size does matter:D the tank on my 79 sure doesn't hold 14 gallons - running on fumes, it takes just over 10 gallons topped up. Quote Link to comment
Phlebmaster
Mine is has never taken more than 10 gallons from empty. :D I have thought about a fuel cell in the bed just to get more miles per tank. Quote Link to comment
Jersey
my '79 fsm has the standard cab and kc at 13 1/4 gallons and the long bed at 16 7/8 gallons. Quote Link to comment
