So first off the lifted celica is now dead. That story is told here http://www.celica-gts.com/forums/index.php?topic=18754.0

I tried to sell the trophy winning Hi-Lux, but the best offer i got was $100 when it looked like this and was advertised for $1k

I ended up giving it away...

But that was because I finally got the longfields in my wheeler. Then on the first trip out with em, I did a burn out on dry pavement and broke a center pin in the rear spring. Got my moneys worth out of the original pin tho, this is the one that didn't break...

Some new bushings, and spring perches later, back on the road. Installed a Efan and big ass alt, then went full retard and have 2 separate charging systems. 5min into the "shakedown run" for the efan on the freeway all hell broke loose on the crank, temps were great. I got a lil video...

So there I was, needing a motor. I had the heart of the lifted celica, but it needed a HG and has been using river water (not a joke) for a few years as radiator fluid. Since I couldnt sell the Hi-Lux and it had the all important power steering bosses on the head, i did a multi eng swap. Put the celi heart in the Hi-Lux and the Lux heart in the wheeler with a 32/36 and that POS 2 piece adapter that now sounds like a F'n flute.

Gratuitous pic of wheeler for reference.

I also picked up a uber rare 1967 toyota stout, which has its own thread on this fine site here http://community.ratsun.net/topic/23367-nuffs-67-toyota-stout/page__p__330747__hl__stout__fromsearch__1#entry330747

Now onto the real reason i chose to bump this thread...

I got a wicked cool custom hand built one of a F'n kind radiator built for the wagon. Here is the connection destroying copy n paste of the oics.

custom built 1 of a kind radiator is done :bob:

specs:

3 core w/turbulated vanes

original yota bottom tank and arms

all fittings silvered except the neck, which was soldered from the inside

top tank:

polished brass (i still need to polish it)

relocated inlet (actually a tank off a 87 4rnr for a cleaner look)

added see through sight glass

bottom tank:

changed petcock from plastic screw in to metal spigot style

removed tranny cooler lines and cooler

threaded fitting for temp sender

your prolly asking yourself, wtf does turbulated mean?

to explain this ill use text for lack of decent pics :_|_:

normal vanes are smooth on the inside, so the fluid in the center of the vane doesnt get much heat dissipation. thats why their thin ;)

turbulated (thats what the dude who built it called it) is dimples in the vanes on the inside. in a pattern like this down the 2 flat sides of the vane, but they are offset side to side so if you were to "butterfly" a fin it would look like this, i will get pictures.

does 2 things:

1. creates more surface area

2. generates turbulence so all the fluid in the vane touches the outside to exchange heat, this by itself makes the radiator 20% cooler.

all in all, with a extra core and the turbulation whatever stuff i should have like 50-70% better cooling effency then a oem 2 core, plus ITS NOT OLD AS SHIT. fuckin stoked, temps are the only thing keeping it from a DD status with a stereo n shit.

got the polishing finially done. used a pretty coarse compound, and after getting the right tools (boost's "wizzy wheel") it only took about 30min to polish it up. didnt go "full mirror" which is possible but would of taken longer with multiple passes, but it is pretty dam close. gonna hit it with some fine stuff before i put it in, dont need to but i bought the fine stuff so im gonna use it.

heres some pics, install today

screens broken on my camera, i'll need to borrow a better cam to get pics of the vanes and some in focus close ups.
