Archie
Hello all, First, Thx to "DatzenMike" and "Yello620" for their earlier replies to my previous post. After much digging around parts stores again, I ended up back at the dealer again, to find out that my driveshaft is equipped with "spiked/peened" ujoints that are not replaceable. I have to buy the whole drive shaft:eek::eek: Has anyone got any ideas?? I even called our local "Drive shaft Specialist" store and their answer to peened joints of any make, is a whole new drive shaft with yokes using normal aftermarket ujoints. $400.... There has to be another less expensive way to get my ole Nissan back on the road:( Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If this is for the Hardbody measure a 720 drive line and see if it will fit. The rear yoke to the pinion may have to be swapped on but that's got to be cheaper. Try a wrecking yard for a used one. Also the D22 Pathfinder used the same platform so the driveshafts may interchange. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
X2 Some junkyard ends and a trip the local driveline place to have them welded if you can't find a bolt in. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Is this for a 86 1/2 or 87 Hardbody? A friend had a similar issue..had to replace the entire shaft. Couldnt you cut off the bad U joints & weld in a new set then get it balanced? Quote Link to comment
coolioni
On my truck the drive shaft was making terrible noise, they replaced the u-joints which were in stock at the local parts store for a very inexpensive price. I think they were about $25 bucks or so. Quote Link to comment
