zacrparts.com might have the orginal sender and 16mm nut that holds it in but I buy newer lower stat housing also as they usually crack taking them out afyer 40years

I'm not looking for a new sending unit.  I bought aftermarket gauges and they came with a two wire probe 1/8 npt.  I was trying to find the right thread pitch so I can buy the right adapter.  I know I could just drill out the side and tap it, but there is already a perfectly good hole in it.  Why make more.  🙂

No, I believe it is a 5/8-16 thread. Or maybe 5/8-18.

I may be wrong, but I recall it being a "standard" thread that was pretty common among temp senders either British or Japanese.

5/8-18 does thread in but it's sloppy.  I'd have to use mass amounts of teflon tape for a good seal.

Ok, I'll have to revisit this. Thanks for checking.

You were correct. It was 5/8-18.

M16-1.5 is a close second.  🙂
