datzenmike
Well check and clean the battery connections first. Are the starter mounting bolts tight? About all you can do. Battery fully charged? A weak battery can cause slow starter operation or intermittent operation. When everything else is eliminated.... The solenoid does two things it moves the pinion gear into contact with the flywheel and it connects power to the starter motor. My guess is the engagement to the flywheel is working (thud) but the contacts for the starter are starting to fail? Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
The starter makes a thud and then cranks at normal speed? Or thud and then sluggish cranking? Could be a loose flywheel, or some other mechanical piece either coming loose or broken. 1 Quote Link to comment
