Stuck Seat Rails

How do you free up stuck seat rails?

 

A while back, I removed the driver’s side rail from the car and got it moving with a hammer and lots of cleaner. I greased it with moly grease before reinstalling but in hindsight I should have used white lithium.

 

My current plans are to remove both rails and soak them for a few days in degreaser, hose off, wipe dry, ensure they’re freely moving and finish by lubricating the track and rollers with white lithium.

 

Open to suggestions.

That should work!  The original assembly grease not only hardens/congeals, but attracts dirt, which builds up & jams the slider rails.

Maybe not the cause, but make sure when bolted back in they are not put in any bind.  Out of square can make the seat movement effort very high.

I use WD40. It cleans and lubricates and will even free up rusty seat rails. It can be messy to use in the vehicle though.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll give this a go when I remove the seats again.
