Torsion bar issue

I’m probably going to catch flack for this but I went to index my torsion bars and forgot to mark beforehand. My question is if I have the torsion bar pulled out and I jack up the control arm to lower the ride height, how do I want to position the torsion bar when putting it back in? Higher or lower? I don’t know why but I’m having such a hard time comprehending this.

I came here to ask the question : Where is the factory setting ?
I removed  them thinking this info would be in my manual.
I have them down like in the pic with enough thread to get one nut on....

Is this the factory setting?

I am working with an Ebay seller for him to make a 620 grommet kit.
A couple will fit the firewall

I have one nut on the rods, I will have to add another pic later, it's night and about to rain AGAIN

Similar ish question—

Is it wise to adjust the anchor bolts for the torsion bars equally?

My truck has sat cockeyed since I got it. Drivers front clearly lower than passenger. So I lowered the passenger side to match using the anchor bolt adjustment (loosen the top lock nut, hold onto the other nut, and turn the square anchor bolt til lower), but the bolts for each side were about dead evenly adjusted before I started. Now they are obviously not since I only changed the passenger side. I probably lowered the one side about an inch.

Should I have thought about reindexing the one side instead and leave the anchor adjustments the same?

What other type of issue would have cause my crooked stance? Can’t see any clear damage in the front suspension.

For an initial adjustment I would start with the anchor bolts even. Understand that adjusting either side slightly raises/lowers the other. So if one side is too low I would raise it slightly and lower the other and try to split the difference. If the end result is one side wildly different then yes, perhaps re-index one of them to make more even.

I can't see how one side would be in need of re-indexing unless it was removed/installed previously.

Yeah, right and no prior info about what was done in that regard or why someone would reindex one and not the other and then park the truck in the backyard for 10 years.

Good suggestion, that’s kinda what I was starting to think…make the sides meet in the middle, see what that looks like.
