Tom1200
I have a H190 LSD in my 1200 race car and currently run a 4.38 ring & pinion and would like to go to a 4.62 but as you all not these are not exactly easy to find. I did find several 4.62 R&Ps for 720 housings but I believe the pinion shaft is actually different. I believe 720 uses larger pinion bearings. Can anyone confirm if a 720 R&P will fit the early H190 (23 spline side gear aluminum housing) Tom Quote Link to comment
Morrisun
Not what you are asking, but I have H190 3rd member with 4.62 ring and pinion. AND it wasn't cheap when I bought it! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
38120-61000... my info shows it used on Fairlady and 720 trucks. The bearing was changed at the end of '85 for use in the S12, 300zx (R-200) D-21, Pathfinder, van .... Quote Link to comment
Tom1200
Morrison shoot me a PM and yes these are not cheap. I ponied up $1300 for the LSD third member with the 4.38 ratio. I've found 4.62 R&Ps online but they're listed as 720. I'm after the 4.62 because I'm trying to find a way around having to spend 3K for a stronger close ratio box. My car eats cluster gears from time to time because I'm using 56 series gear box. I have a 60 series 5 speed, coupled with a 4.62 rear gear and the short Hoosier tires it appears I can use 3-5th and avoid the huuuuuuge gap between 2nd and 3rd. Tom Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The '80 4x4 Long Bed 720 had 4.625 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
One way to see if they were different would be to check if the bearing kit is the same or different. Randy's Ring and Pinion or Rock Auto should sell bearing kits for these. Check both vehicles and see if the bearing kits have different part numbers. Quote Link to comment
Mazda Jon
Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Had one and just sold it. Converted my SCCA GTL MX-5 from a trick H-190 to a Speedway Quickchange. Still have some other H-190 parts. http://prodracing.com/prodcar/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=17280 Quote Link to comment
