datzenmike
Fill the master and have an assistant keep it topped up. Have someone else work the clutch pedal. Or do both but do not let it run dry. You, loosen the bleeder and air and fluid may run out with bubbles. Close bleeder and ask assistant to pump clutch several times and hold down. You, loosen the bleeder until fluid comes out and stops, then close it. Instruct assistant to let pedal up and then press down and hold there. Loosen the bleeder let out any fluid and or bubbles and close, raise the pedal. Again, depress the clutch, loosen and drain fluid, tighten bleeder, raise the clutch pedal. Repeat until you get 3 or 4 good squirts without any air bubbles. Tighten bleeder wipe and spilled fluid and replace rubber nipple cover on bleeder. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Or, you can do it yourself, but you'll need more equipment. In all cases, never let the master cyl run dry, or you'll have to bleed IT too. 1) you can get a Mi-t-vac and pull the brake fluid through the system, although it doesn't always get all the air out. 2) You can get a self-bleeder kit at the parts store. Pro tip- don't slam the pedal down, it'll shoot the hose off the bleeder nipple. 3) You can make your own bleeder bottle using a couple feet of clear tubing (small enough to fit snugly on the bleeder nipple) and a clear jar. You put one end of the tubing on the bleeder, the other end in the jar. Fill the jar with brake fluid just enough to submerge the end of the tubing, then open the bleeder (with the tubing attached). Then, with the master cyl full (and check often) SLOWLY pump the pedal, checking the tubing often until it no longer has any air bubbles in it all the way to the bottle, then close the bleeder and take off the tubing. Check to see if it works, and you're done. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
When I bleed brakes or clutches... I just get a long length of hose.. put one end on the bleeder and then the other end to the reservoir. Pump away... watch the hose for bubbles. When they stop.. turn the bleeder screw. Done deal. then you can bleed anything.. by yourself. Length of clear hose us dirt cheap. Cheaper than any other bleeder tool. 1 Quote Link to comment
