datsunfreak
I used to own a Datsun 1600 Roadster, the Fairlady was a Japan only name. Just in case you didn't know The name "Roadster" wasn't used on it in any market. Just in case you didn't know. Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
The first Datson Roadster of 1917/18, just shy of 100 years ago. Any open top two seater is.... a roadster. But that was a Roadster. ^_^ I personally prefer the British definition of a roadster, which is that it must not be weatherproof. If it has a fold up top that is weather sealed (check), and has roll up windows that are weather sealed (check), it is by definition a convertible. Not a roadster. By your definition a Miata is a roadster. This is bad. ^_^ And in case it wasn't obvious, I was just talking about the SPL310/SPL311/SRL311. It was not badged as a roadster, was not advertised as a roadster, and the Nissan factory never called it a roadster. Somewhere along the way people started calling them that, and for some reason it just stuck. It's a little troublesome (to me) that people call it that. It would be more accurate to call it a Fairlady, since at least in some markets they were badged as that. Now oddly enough, I call mine a roadster. But that's because I sold off my top and took out my side windows... Quote Link to comment
