]2eDeYe
You can post a wanted ad in the classifieds link above if you are looking for used parts. They should be available new from your local parts house and/or your local Nissan dealer. 1 Quote Link to comment

austenk
Alright thanks guys. Yeah all of the local parts stores and everywhere online is saying that the drivers side is obsolete. I had no problem finding the passenger side. Do ya'll think a cv off of a 84 would interchange with a 86? 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
86 is a split year. Early 86 would be an exact match and work fine in your 84. Late 86, Nissan switched to d21 hardbody truck and changed quite a bit, so those will not work at all. Wrong lengths and different spine count. 1 Quote Link to comment

austenk
I'm currently replacing the clutch and pressure plate. I just started on it today. I have everything taken up about from the under side. ( all of the driveshafts off) Is it going to be rough taking the transmission off from the bottom? I am reading everywhere online that its better to take the engine out to do this? Can anyone give me any advice/ pointers? This is my first time doing this. Thanks 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I think lift the engine and transmission out as a unit. 1 Quote Link to comment
austenk
Okay thank you. What about just pulling the trans out without pulling the engine? not a good idea? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Very tight. Disconnect the exhaust down pipe and push over for some more room. I shove my 620 trans to the rear so the front has room to drop. It was do able, barely and I had a 4" body lift.. 1 Quote Link to comment
austenk
Okay thanks for the tips. I'm going to give it a shot in the morning. will let you know how it turns out 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You can also remove a torsion bar. 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Removing the trans out the bottom requires removing the front diff. Getting that back in can be a total nightmare. Pulling the engine is by far the better proposition. One tip to make things easier. On the front of the front diff is a large bolt. Remove that and it will allow the diff to drop about an inch. This doesn't seem like much, but with how tightly the oil pan is fitted around the diff it makes all the difference in the world. If necessary, yes it can be done out the bottom, but it's harder and more time consuming then pulling the engine. 1 Quote Link to comment
zrex
I pulled the tranny from the bottom, it's tight and getting the transmission back in took a whole day. if you do drop the tranny do yourself a favor and lower the differential and remove the exhaust do give yourself room. Good luck Quote Link to comment
austenk
Thanks for the help fellas. I ended up pulling it from the bottom. I took the crossbar off and lowered the differential and with a little wiggling and elbo grease it slid right on out. The hardest part about the whole thing was getting that very top bolt out right up against the firewall. I ended up and had to heat and bend a wrench to get it. All good to go now  Just have to put 2 u joint on in the morning and I will be right on time for opening day of deer season! Quote Link to comment
