New alternator on 70 510-wiring questions

Recommended Posts

I replaced the alternator on my 510. I wasn't sure the wires were connected correctly since the posts on the old one didn't match the new one. I read a post another post about the wiring. It was talking about A/B and L/F wires. Not sure what those are. The old alternator had an A and an E post in addition to the plug. The new one has the same plug which is obvious.

I connected the large gauge yellow/red wire to the "A" post. I connected the two grouped black wires to the only other stud which was on the underside of the alternator (in the second picture from on the ground looking up through the engine bay).

Is this correct? I have a voltage nice meter. where/how do I test to ensure it's charging properly? Even though I've swapped to electronic ignition (matchbox) in my 521 and 510, wiring and alternator stuff is not my strong suit.
