jfbrink
Hi, all, My subject heading is misleading, because I realized some things while typing my original post. Here is my real question: Can anyone characterize the difference in ride between the 4-leaf spring pack (which my sedan has) and the 5-leaf spring pack? My sedan rides really smoothly, and my wagon kinda pogos down the road. The wagon has ancient shocks, but I'm wondering if it's the springs? Best, Jesse. Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
Generally speaking, ''pogo'' is caused by lack of dampening, too much spring causes a harsh ride even with good shocks. New shocks may make a large difference in your case. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Pogoing is not caused by springs. Its caused by bad shocks. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Swap the shocks between sedan and goon to get a good idea. Generally the added springs increase the carrying weight. They will feel a bit more firm but good shocks are the key to comfort and handling. Quote Link to comment
Mojoslayer
Since were on topic of suspension. Has anyone found sway bars for the 411 yet ? I feel like I'm on a Tilt-a-Whirl Ride when I turn a corner.. :w00t: Quote Link to comment
Swedishcadillac
There is no aftermarket parts for the 410/411 besides MKlotz front disk bracket and what you can make with a welder. I'm assuming you have installed new high(er)-performance shocks already? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Find a factory sway bar and put it back on. It will make a world of difference. New shocks will help too. Factory spec are the best riding. Aftermarket often make the car lose traction on bumpy roads, but are much better than worn-out shocks. Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Sears has gas loaded shocks for the 411. They look like Monroes with a different paint job. The main difference is that Sears has a lifetime replacement warantee if they do the installation. Just keep the original bill of sale that shows they installed them. I did and the manager shit his pants. No one keeps an original bill of sale for 35 years. I did! Quote Link to comment
Mojoslayer
I've got Monroe Sensa-Trac - Shock Part # 58273 for the Front & Monroe Sensa-Trac - ShockPart Number: 58568 For the Rear . I Picked them because of the Heavier Motor & Tranny I road Great for like a month after I installed them, But after that month it went back to "rock-a-by Dummy" I've used warranty 4 times in 2 years & it's getting old .. jfbrink
So, I finally got around to replacing the shocks in my wagon, and that improved the ride significantly. I used new KYB 343127 gas shocks in the front and NOS KYB K3087 in the rear. I didn't mean to mix gas and non-gas shocks, I just didn't realize that the rears were NOS non-gas until they arrived. Probably not ideal, but still way better than what I had before. Jesse. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Non-gas is best for a smooth ride. Gas shocks are only better on washboard surfaces. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Where'd you find the NOS shocks? Quote Link to comment
