This one will be a longer term project and will have to fit in between a bunch of other builds I'm working on. I just wanted to get one while I could, and one that was a project and mostly complete. Been looking for a while and this was the first one that fit the bill, Named it after my mom. Since the title would suck just as 71 510. earlyvws Posted October 14, 2014 Author Report Share Posted October 14, 2014 Repurpose body cart To a rotisserie. Not finished ran out of time, need to add bracing. But it works. Only trouble is a 510 weighs ALOT more then almost all VWS. I can't pull it back up. Going to have to use forklift every time to get it back to level. Learned my lesson on the truck so starting in the engine bay first. Got the battery tray removed and made a filler piece to remove the pressing there. Now all smooth. 4 Quote Link to comment

earlyvws Posted October 22, 2014 Author Report Share Posted October 22, 2014 Started on the floors. The metal shop screwed up and sold me 16 gauge sheet instead of 18. So I am going about the floor differently then planned. I just don't have what I need to roll beads in 16. Started on the doors too. Repaired the bottom edge that was rusted out. Ran out of argon so couldn't finish yet. Picked up a cheap 280z with a good 5 speed. Other then tranny and front struts/brakes/spindles is there anything else useful? It came with a spare r200 and I guess has one installed too. My plan for now is to freshen up a L16 for now but later install an FJ20. From what I understand the r200 is not good with the L16. earlyvws Posted October 22, 2014 Author Report Share Posted October 22, 2014 Ok, so I started thinking about my struts I pulled out of the 510. One is different. So I'm guessing I have 1 280zx strut and 1 510 strut. Can anyone confirm this? So if I go to coil overs do I need to find another 510 strut and 1 280 zx strut? Or can I skip the 510 strut and just find 1 280zx strut. Anyone have one I think driver side? Gotta check which side this was. Quote Link to comment
